KazInvestBank (KIB), previously KazInterBank, is a Kazakhstan commercial bank. On 27 December 2016, the Kazakhstan authorities revoked the licence of Kazinvestbank citing its repeated failures to process payments. History 1993-2003: Investment bank In 1993, the Kazakhstan International Bank (KazInterBank or KIB) was founded with 50% interest in the Government of Kazakhstan, Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 50% interest in Chase Manhattan Bank, NY. In 1995, shares of the Chase Manhattan Bank were acquired by the Government of Kazakhstan due to changes in banking regulations. The Bank becomes private following privatization, the privatization process. From 1995 to 2003, the bank provided primarily investment banking services, attracting investments to Kazakhstan, and assisting in the privatization of state shareholdings in Kazakh companies. The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan ( kk, Қазақстан Республикасының Үкіметі, tr, ''Qazaqstan Respublikasynyñ Ükımetı'') oversees a presidential republic. The President of Kazakhstan, currently Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is head of state and nominates the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, the head of government. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of parliament. According to the 2016 World Development report prepared by the World Bank Group, Kazakhstan ranks 28th among 193 countries in the e-Gov development rating. The "Information Kazakhstan – 2020" state program approved in 2013 helped the country transition to the information society.
