Kazimierz Sporny
Kazimierz Sporny DFC (17 February 191617 May 1949) was a Polish fighter ace of the Polish Air Force in World War II with 5 confirmed kills. Biography Sporny was born in 1916, he was graduated from the Polish Air Force Academy in 1936. He was assigned to the 3rd Aviation Regiment. On 17 September he crossed the border with Romania then via Yugoslavia and Italy he reached France. After the Battle of France he arrived in the UK where he served in the No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron. Sporny scored his first victory on 30 December 1940 on a Bf 109. He volunteered to the Polish Fighting Team. On 18 July 1946 he married Margaret McArthur. Kazimierz Sporny died from a brain cancer on 17 May 1949. On 25 August 2016 his remains were brought to PoznaÅ„ by Polish Air Force's CASA C-295 and buried in MiÅ‚ostowo cemetery, with an honorary flypast by the F-16 fighter jets. Flight lieutenant is a junior commissioned rank in air forces that use the Royal Air Force (RAF) system of ranks, especially in Commonwealth countries. It has a NATO rank code of OF-2. Flight lieutenant is abbreviated as Flt Lt in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and RAF, and as FLTLT in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) and has sometimes also been abbreviated as F/L in many services; it has never been correctly abbreviated as "lieutenant". The Few were the airmen of the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the aviators of the Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy (RN) who fought the Battle of Britain in the Second World War. The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine Multirole combat aircraft, multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). A flypast is a ceremonial or honorific flight by an aircraft or group of aircraft. The term flypast is used in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. In the United States, the terms flyover and flyby are used. Flypasts are often tied in with Royal or state events, anniversaries, celebrations - and occasionally funerary or memorial occasions. CASA C-295
The CASA C-295 (now Airbus C295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA. Work on what would become the C-295 was started during the 1990s as a derivative of the successful CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. On 28 November 1997, the prototype performed its maiden flight; quantity production commenced shortly thereafter. In April 1999, the Spanish Air Force became its launch customer with an order for nine military-configured C-295s; two years later, the type was declared operational with the service. Further orders for the C-295 would promptly follow. Following the incorporation of CASA into the pan-European aeronautical group EADS in 2000, it was redesignated as the EADS CASA C-295. Polish Fighting Team
The Polish Fighting Team (PFT) ( pl, Polski Zespół Myśliwski), also known as "Skalski's Circus" ( pl, Cyrk Skalskiego), was a Polish unit which fought alongside the Commonwealth of Nations, British Commonwealth Desert Air Force in the North African Campaign of World War II, during 1943. Its nickname was derived from its commanding officer, Flight lieutenant, F/Lt Stanisław Skalski. History In late 1942 Polish Air Force Staff Command requested RAF permission to send a group of specially chosen pilots to the North African theatre of operations to acquire experience in operating as a part of a tactical air force in preparation for future Allied landings on the European continent.
