Kazimierz Puczyński
Kazimierz Puczyński (nom de guerre ''Wroński'') was a Polish hydrotechnology specialist, graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology with engineering degree, soldier of the Polish Underground State, participant of the Warsaw Uprising. He was born in 1908, and some time in the interwar period, he graduated from the University of Technology in Warsaw. During the Warsaw Uprising he was commandant of the 104th Company of Syndicalists. After the war, Puczyński worked in the Engineering Office in Warsaw as well as the Hydrology Magazine. He died on September 26, 2007, in Warsaw and was buried at the Powązki Military Cemetery. Warsaw University Of Technology
The Warsaw University of Technology ( pl, Politechnika Warszawska, lit=Varsovian Polytechnic) is one of the leading institutes of technology in Poland and one of the largest in Central Europe. It employs 2,453 teaching faculty, with 357 professors (including 145 titular professors). The student body numbers 36,156 (as of 2011), mostly full-time. There are 19 faculties (divisions) covering almost all fields of science and technology. They are in Warsaw, except for one in Płock. Polish Underground State
The Polish Underground State ( pl, Polskie Państwo Podziemne, also known as the Polish Secret State) was a single political and military entity formed by the union of resistance organizations in occupied Poland that were loyal to the Government of the Republic of Poland in exile in London. The first elements of the Underground State were established in the final days of the German and Soviet invasion of Poland, in late September 1939. The Underground State was perceived by supporters as a legal continuation of the pre-war Republic of Poland (and its institutions) that waged an armed struggle against the country's occupying powers: Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Warsaw Uprising
The Warsaw Uprising ( pl, powstanie warszawskie; german: Warschauer Aufstand) was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance movement in World War II, Polish underground resistance to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. It occurred in the summer of 1944, and it was led by the Polish resistance Home Army ( pl, Armia Krajowa). The uprising was timed to coincide with the retreat of the German forces from Poland ahead of the Soviet advance. 104 Company of Syndicalists ( pl, 104 Kompania Syndykalistów) was a military unit created by the Union of Polish Syndicalists (''Związek Syndykalistów Polskich''), which participated in the Warsaw Uprising. Formation and structure The 104th company was formed within the Home Army in 1943, on the basis of the combat unit of the Polish Syndicalists Union. Powązki Military Cemetery (; pl, Cmentarz Wojskowy na Powązkach) is an old military cemetery located in the Żoliborz district, western part of Warsaw, Poland. The cemetery is often confused with the older Powązki Cemetery, known colloquially as "Old Powązki". The Old Powązki cemetery is located to the south-east of the military cemetery. The military cemetery holds the graves of many who have fought and died for their country since the early 19th century, including a large number involved in the 1920 Battle of Warsaw, the September 1939 Campaign, and the ill-fated 1944 Warsaw Uprising against Nazi Germany.
