Kazi Sarwar Hossain
Kazi Sarwar Hossain is a retired Rear Admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and the former ambassador of Bangladesh to Maldives. He is the former Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. Early life Hossain did his MBA from Honolulu University. He completed defense studies from the University of Madras. Career Hossain joined Bangladesh Navy in 1980. He had served in the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire. In April 2011, Hossain as Director General of the Coast Guard received three patrol crafts transferred from Bangladesh Navy. In January 2015, Hossain was appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Maldives where he replaced Rear Admiral Abu Sayed Mohammad Abdul Awal. He left the post next year after a farewell call on Vice President Abdulla Jihad Abdulla Jihad served as Vice President of Maldives from 22 June 2016 to 17 November 2018. Rear admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, equivalent to a major general and air vice marshal and above that of a commodore and captain, but below that of a vice admiral. It is regarded as a two star "admiral" rank. It is often regarded as a two-star rank with a NATO code of OF-7. Bangladesh Coast Guard
The Bangladesh Coast Guard ( bn, বাংলাদেশ কোস্ট গার্ড; BCG) is the maritime law enforcement force of Bangladesh. It is a paramilitary force which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its officers and sailors are transferred from Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from Bangladesh Army. United Nations Operation In Côte D'Ivoire
The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) (french: link=no, Opération des Nations Unies en Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI)) was a UN-NATO peacekeeping mission in Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) whose objective was "to facilitate the implementation by the Ivorian parties of the peace agreement signed by them in January 2003" (which aimed to end the Ivorian Civil War). The two main Ivorian parties were the Ivorian Government forces who controlled the south of the country, and the New Forces (former rebels), who controlled the north. The UNOCI mission aimed to control a "zone of confidence" across the centre of the country separating the two parties. Abu Sayed Mohammad Abdul Awal (born 1957) is a retired Bangladesh Navy Rear Admiral and former Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel). Abdulla Jihad served as Vice President of Maldives from 22 June 2016 to 17 November 2018. Prior to his appointment on 22 June 2016, he served as the Minister of Finance.
