Kazhakam
''Kazhakam'' is a 1996 Indian Malayalam film directed by M. P. Sukumaran Nair and starring Nedumudi Venu and Urvashi in the lead roles. Plot. Radha (Urvashi) is a village girl living close to the temple with her ill mother (Valsala Menon). Radha is not married. Her house accommodates the pilgrims to the temple. Nedumudi Venu and Mullanezhi are the temple workers and close friends of Radha. Radha makes flower chains for the lord at the temple. She makes a living by selling milk. A newly appointed teacher, Nandini (Kukku Parameshwaram) comes to the village. As there are no other safe and comfortable lodging available, Nandini stays at Radha's house. Nandini has a baby son, Kannan. When Nandini goes to work, Radha takes care of Kannan. This develops unbreakable bond between Radha and Kannan. Mullanezhi
Mullanezhi Neelakandan Namboothiri (1948–2011), popularly known as Mullanezhi, was a Malayalam poet, playwright, lyricist and actor from Thrissur in Kerala state of India. He was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice: in 1995 for the drama ''Samathalam'' and in 2010 for the poetry collection ''Kavitha''. He wrote more than 70 songs for 25 movies and also acted in films like ''Uppu'', ''Piravi'', ''Kazhakam'' and '' Neelathamara''. Biography Mullanezhi was born in Mullanezhi Mana, Avinissery, Ollur on 16 May 1948. Though he began to write poems from his childhood, it was Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon, who discovered the poet in him and guided him in his life and career. Kerala State Film Awards
The Kerala State Film Awards are the film awards for a motion picture made in Kerala. The awards started in 1969 by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala and since 1998 the awards have been bestowed by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs. The awardees are decided by an independent jury formed by the academy and the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Kerala. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film field. For the awards for literature on cinema a separate jury is formed. The academy annually invites films for the award and the jury analyses the films that are submitted before deciding the winners. The awards intends to promote films with artistic values and encourage artists, technicians and producers. Urvashi (actress)
Kavitha Ranjini, known by the stage name Urvashi, is an Indian actress, dubbing artist, television host, scriptwriter and producer known for her works in the Southern film industry, predominantly in Malayalam and Tamil films. Urvashi was a prominent lead actress of the 1980s and 1990s, primarily in Malayalam Films. Jerome Thomas Veleeparambil, more popularly known by his stage name Jerry Amaldev (born 15 April 1939) is a three-time Kerala State Film Awards winning Indian composer of film scores who has given music to some of the most important motion pictures of Malayalam cinema. Valsala Menon (born 1945) is an Indian actress who works in Malayalam films. She has acted in over 200+ films. Currently she is active in Malayalam television serials. Early life Valsala Menon was born in 1945 to Raman Menon and Devakiyamma in Thrissur District. She has three elder brothers. Since early childhood she has learned classical dancing and has performed on various stages in the august audience of leaders and rulers of the time. Nedumudi Venu
Kesavan Venugopal (22 May 1948 – 11 October 2021), better known by his stage name Nedumudi Venu, was an Indian actor and screenwriter from Kerala, who predominantly worked in Malayalam cinema. He acted in more than 500 films, primarily in Malayalam cinema, Malayalam and also in Tamil cinema, Tamil in a career spanning nearly five decades. He wrote screenplays and directed one film.
