Kazakhstan Bandy Federation
Kazakhstan Bandy Federation (Qazaqstan Bendı Federatsııasy) is the governing body for the sport of bandy in Kazakhstan. It is based in Nur-Sultan. Its president is Oralbay Zhaksymbetov, while Vladimir Pashkovsky is Vice-President. Bandy has been played for many decades in Kazakhstan when the country belonged to the Soviet Union. The Kazakh club Dynamo Alma-Ata became Soviet national champions in 1977 and in 1990. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Kazakh federation was founded in 1993 and became a member of the Federation of International Bandy the same year. Kazakhstan Bandy Federation hosted the 2012 Bandy World Championship and received praise for the arrangement. In September 2017 "ҚБФ" bought the country's only professional club, Akzhaiyk. Bandy
Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The playing surface, called a bandy field or bandy rink, is a sheet of ice which measures 90–110 meters by 45–65 meters – about the size of a football pitch. The field is considerably larger than the ice rinks commonly used for ice hockey, rink bandy, or figure skating. The goal cage used in bandy is 3.5 m (11 ft) wide and 2.1 m (6 ft 11 in) high and is the largest one used by any organized winter team sport. Nur-Sultan
Astana, previously known as Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola, and most recently Nur-Sultan, is the capital city of Kazakhstan. The city lies on the banks of the Ishim (river), Ishim River in the north-central part of Kazakhstan, within the Akmola Region, though administered as a city with special status separately from the rest of the region. Dynamo Alma-Ata (bandy Club)
Dynamo Alma-Ata (russian: Динамо Алма-Ата) was the bandy department of the sports club Dynamo Alma-Ata in Alma-Ata (now Almaty) in Kazakhstan at the time of the Soviet Union. The club was established in 1932 and disbanded in 1995, just some years after Kazakhstan became independent. In 1977 and in 1990, the club became Soviet national champions in bandy. The club also won the silver in 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1981 and the bronze in 1966, 1967, 1971, 1974, and 1983. In 1978, the club won the European Cup, beating Edsbyns IF in the final. The Federation of International Bandy (FIB; french: Fédération internationale de bandy, russian: Международная федерация хоккея с мячом, sv, Internationella Bandyförbundet) is the international governing body for the sport of bandy, including the variant called rink bandy. The federation is headquartered in Söderhamn, Sweden. History Bandy as we know it today has been played since the later half of the 19th Century. Rules were set up in the 1890s by the National Bandy Association in England and by the corresponding body in Russia. 2012 Bandy World Championship
The 2012 Bandy World Championship was an edition of the top annual event in international bandy, held between January 29 and February 5, 2012, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. 14 countries participated in the 2012 championships: Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, the United States (group A), Belarus, Canada, Hungary, Latvia, and the Netherlands (group B), and Estonia, Japan, and Kyrgyzstan (group C). Group C was introduced, and 14 teams made the record number for Bandy World Championships. The qualifiers match between the team in the last place in Group A and the first team in Group B was not played. The United States, who finished sixth in Group A, in 2013 will play in group B, and Belarus, the winner of Group B, will play in 2013 in Group A. Akzhaiyk
Akzhayik Sports Club ( kk, Aqjаi'yq spоrt kly'by) is a bandy team in Kazakhstan, which is the only professional team in the country and plays in the second highest division of Russia, the Russian Bandy Supreme League. Their home arena is Stadion Yunost (Stadion Zhastar in Kazakh), which was supposed to become equipped for artificial ice in 2015, however, the project got delayed. Kazakhstan National Bandy Team
The Kazakh national bandy team has been representing Kazakhstan in the Bandy World Championships since 1995. Kazakhstan finished third in 2003, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In 2011 and 2012 they lost the semifinals after extra-time. Kazakhstan won the 2011 Asian Winter Games. Bandy World Championship
The Bandy World Championship is a competition between bandy-playing nations' men's teams. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy. It is distinct from the Bandy World Cup, a club competition, and from the Women's Bandy World Championship. A Youth Bandy World Championship also exists separately from the senior competition and has competitions in both the male and female categories. The 2020 Bandy World Championship for Division A was scheduled to be played in Irkutsk, Russia in 2020 but was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2019 Winter Universiade
The 2019 Winter Universiade (russian: Зимняя Универсиада 2019), the XXIX Universiade, was a multi-sport event for student and youth athletes which took place from 2 to 12 March 2019 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. The 2019 Winter Universiade was the third Universiade hosted in Russia and second as an independent country. The first Universiade, when Russia was a Soviet Republic, was hosted by Moscow in 1973, whereas Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, hosted the 2013 Summer Universiade. Bandy In Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan's President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has challenged sports organizers to engage 30 percent of the country's population in sports. The state has numerous sports clubs where people participate in various types of sports; sport facilities are available to the general public. Kazakhstan currently hosts major international tournaments; Astana and Almaty hosted the VII Asian Winter Games 2011, which drew teams from 27 countries.
