Kavale or Kavalem is a village in Ponda taluk, Ponda, Goa, India. Kavle/Kawale/Kawle are other variations for the same name. Quelossim
Quelossim is a village in Mormugao taluka, South Goa, India. This village was known as ''Kardalipura'' in ancient times and had a beautiful temple dedicated to the Mother-Goddess Shri Shantadurga and Shri Kavale Math which was shifted to Kavale 450 years ago when the Portuguese demolished the shrine as a part of the inquisition. The original temple was built by a Goud Saraswat Brahman trader Anu Shenvi Mone, but was destroyed during the religious persecution period around 1566 AD. Today the exact location can be accessed from NH66 via Kesarval Spring en route to Rassaim or Loutolim, where one can see a few architectural ruins, in the form of the original temple lake. Shri Manguesh temple (Devanagari: ) is located at Mangeshi Village in Priol, Ponda taluk, Goa. Gaud Saraswat Brahmins (GSB) (also Goud or Gawd) are a Hindu Brahmin community of the north. The Konkani speaking Gaud Saraswat of Goa and southern India claim to be descendents of these Gaud Saraswat Brahmins of the north that migrated to Konkan from Gaud, as per the Skanda Purana. Their traditional occupation was trading. Etymology There are many interpretations on how the Gaud Saraswat Brahmins received the name "Gaud" and the information about it is scant. Shanta Durga Temple - Majestic Deepa Stambha (Lamp Tower)
Shanta is a character in the ''Rāmāyaṇa''. She is the adoptive daughter of King Romapāda of Aṅga and wife of R̥śyaśr̥ṇga. In northern recensions of the ''Rāmāyaṇa'' and later Indian literature, she is the daughter of Daśaratha who is then adopted by Romapāda. Life She was educated in the Vedas, arts, craft as well as in warfare, and was considered to have been very beautiful. One day, while her father, the king Romapada, was busy in conversation with Shanta, a brahmin came to ask for help in cultivation in the days of the monsoon.
