Kauser Edappagath ( ml, ഡോ. കൗസർ എടപ്പഗത്ത്) is an Indian judge who is presently serving as a judge of Kerala High Court. The High Court of Kerala is the highest court in the Indian state of Kerala and in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. The High Court of Kerala is headquartered at Ernakulam, Kochi. He was serving as the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Ernakulam before being elevated as the judge of Kerala High Court. Early life and education Justice Edappagath was born in an Ahmadiyya Muslims family in Kerala. He completed his schooling from M.M. Uloom U.P.School, Kannur and Government City High School, Kannur. He graduated from Sir Syed College (Taliparamba), obtained law degree from Government Law College, Kozhikode and post graduation in law in Contracts from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. Kerala High Court
The High Court of Kerala is the highest court in the Indian state of Kerala and the Union territory of Lakshadweep. It is located in Kochi. Drawing its powers under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the High Court has the power to issue directions, orders and writs including the writs of ''habeas corpus'', ''mandamus'', ''prohibition'', ''quo warranto'' and ''certiorari'' for ensuring the enforcement of the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Constitution to citizens or for other specified purposes. Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is a legislation, initiated by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to provide more effective provision for maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens. It makes it a legal obligation for children and heirs to provide maintenance to senior citizens and parents, by monthly allowance. It also provides simple, speedy and inexpensive mechanism for the protection of life and property of the older persons. After being passed by the Parliament of India, it received President's assent on December 29, 2007. The first case under the act was filed in November 2011 by Siluvai (age 84) and his wife Arulammal (age 80) of Tuticorin against their son and daughter-in-law for neglect, besides taking away their two homes and gold jewellery. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is the primary counter-terrorist task force of India. The agency is empowered to deal with the investigation of terror related crimes across states without special permission from the states under written proclamation from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
