Kaupanger Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Kaupanger in Sogndal. It has sections for association football, athletics, floorball and skiing. The men's football team currently plays in the Third Division, the fourth tier of Norwegian football. The women's team plays in the First Division, which is the second tier. The Norwegian First Division, also called 1. divisjon ( no, 1. divisjon), is the second highest division in women's football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup
The 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup was the inaugural FIFA Women's World Cup, the world championship for women's national association football teams. It took place in Guangdong, China from 16 to 30 November 1991. FIFA, football's international governing body selected China as host nation as Guangdong had hosted a prototype world championship three years earlier, the 1988 FIFA Women's Invitation Tournament. Matches were played in the provincial capital, Guangzhou, as well as in Foshan, Jiangmen and Zhongshan. The competition was sponsored by Mars, Incorporated, maker of M&M's candy. Norwegian Second Division (women)
The Norwegian Second Division ( no, 2. divisjon) is the third highest level of women's football in Norway. In the 2022 season, it consisted of 71 teams divided into eight groups. Two teams are promoted to the Norwegian First Division (women), Norwegian First Division each season. The worst ranked teams are relegated to the Norwegian Third Division. FK Fyllingsdalen, Fyllingsdalen and SF Grei, Grei are the current champions. Starting from the 2023 season, the league will consist of 28 teams divided into two groups.
