''Kattu Roja'' (; ) is 1963 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film, directed by A. Subba Rao and produced by Modern Theatres. The script was written by M. S. Solaimani and dialogue was written by N. Padmanabam and G. Devarajan. Music was by K. V. Mahadevan. The film stars S. S. Rajendran, Padmini, M. R. Radha and R. S. Manohar, with V. K. Ramasamy, G. Varalakshmi and K. A. Thangavelu. Plot A young, innocent man, Baskaran lives alone with his elderly parents Ponnambla Mudaliar, Vadivu and his cousin Kuzhandai Velu. The elderly couple wishes for an arranged marriage for their family friend Shanmuga Mudaliar and daughter Baby. So, Baskar and his cousin visit Neelagiri for Shanmuga Mudaliar's home. Padmini (actress)
Padmini Ramachandran (12 June 1932 – 24 September 2006) was an Indian actress and trained Bharatanatyam dancer, who acted in over 250 Indian films. She acted in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Russian language films. Padmini, with her elder sister Lalitha and her younger sister Ragini, were called the "Travancore sisters". Early life Padmini was born and raised in Trivandrum (present-day Thiruvananthapuram), in what was then the princely state of Travancore (now the Indian state of Kerala) to a Malayali-speaking family. She was the second daughter of Sree Thankappan Pillai and Saraswathi Amma. Career At the age of 16, Padmini was cast as the dancer in the Hindi film '' Kalpana'' (1948), launching her career. Modern Theaters Ltd was an Indian film studio in Salem, Tamil Nadu started by T. R. Sundaram Mudaliar in 1935. The studio produced over more than 150 films until 1982 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Sinhalese and even English of which Tamil were the majority. History In the early 1930s, T. R. Sundaram entered the world of Tamil cinema as a partner of a Salem-based film company, Angel Films. He was involved in productions such as ''Draupadi Vastrapaharanam'' (1934), Dhruva (1935) and Nalla Thangal (1935). Then he decided to start his own company, Modern Theatres Limited. He realized that to make film making a business, it had to be organized and managed like a business enterprise. Panchanathan Arunachalam (22 March 1941 – 9 August 2016) was an Indian writer, director, producer and lyricist who worked in Tamil cinema. He was mentored by poet Kannadasan who was his uncle. He also worked as a lyricist in the Tamil cinema industry. He started producing films under his production banner named P. A. Arts. His son Subbu Panchu Arunachalam is an actor and dubbing artist in the Tamil film industry.
