Katsura Station
is a railway station located about 15 kilometers from the center of Kyoto, near the Katsura River. The station provides transportation on the Hankyu Kyoto Line for the residents of Katsura, as well as a hub connecting to the communities along the Hankyu Arashiyama Line. Layout This station has three island platforms serving six tracks on the ground. Ticket gates are located over the platforms and tracks. Nishikyō-ku, Kyoto
is one of the eleven Wards of Kyoto, wards in the Municipalities of Japan, city of Kyoto, Kyoto, Kyoto, in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Its name means "west capital ward" and it is situated on the western edge of the city, to the south of center. The ward was established on October 1, 1976, after it was separated from Ukyō-ku, Kyoto, Ukyō-ku. The Katsura River is the border between Nishikyo-ku and Ukyo-ku. Katsura Imperial Villa, on that river, is one of the most widely known features of Nishikyo-ku. Saihō-ji (Kyoto), Saihō-ji, the Moss Temple, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the ward. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Hankyu Kyoto Main Line
The is a railway line in Japan operated by the private railway operator Hankyu Railway. It connects Osaka-umeda Station in Osaka and Kyoto-kawaramachi Station in Kyoto. Definition The Kyoto Main Line is often called the for short, and in a broader sense its two branch lines, the Hankyu Senri Line, Senri Line and the Hankyu Arashiyama Line, Arashiyama Line, are included to the Kyoto Line by historical, geographical and structural reasons. Hankyu Arashiyama Line
The is a railway line in Kyoto, Japan, operated by private railway operator Hankyu Railway. It connects Katsura and Arashiyama on the west side of the city, linking the area along the line to the Hankyu Kyoto Main Line that extends east to central Kyoto and south to Osaka. The line is 4.1 km long. Trains on the line mainly use 4-car Hankyu 6300 series electric multiple unit trains, which were originally built for limited express services on the main line from 1975 and refurbished for Arashiyama Line services from 2009.
