Katsucon is an annual three-day anime convention held during February at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. It is traditionally held in February over Presidents Day weekend and was previously held in various locations around Virginia and Washington, D.C. The basis of the conventions name is not clear, as "katsu" in the Japanese language has various meanings, including pork. The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is a hotel and convention center located at National Harbor, Prince George's County, in the U.S. state of Maryland. The hotel is situated along the shores of the Potomac, downriver from Washington, D.C., and across the river from Alexandria, Virginia. is a Japanese animator and director associated with Anime International Company, AIC. He is best known as the director of the first ''Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki'' Original video animation, OVA series and co-creator of ''El-Hazard''. Biography Hayashi got started in animation on ''ThunderCats'' and ''Silverhawks''. He joined Anime International Company, AIC when he was 21 years old. His first anime was ''Gall Force'' in 1987. Toren Smith
Toren V. Smith (April 12, 1960 – March 4, 2013) was a Canadian manga translator and founder of Studio Proteus. Early life Smith learned to read by the age of four, and by the age of 12 had won his first award for writing from the Calgary Stampede and Exhibition. By thirteen he had sold his first magazine article, an examination of body morphology in deep sea fishes, which included drawings by himself. In 1974 his science fair project in physics with Martin Brock won first place in the Physics category and they moved on to competition in London, where they took an Honorable Mention. Brock also introduced Smith to comics, which would become a lifetime passion. Yoshihiro Yonezawa
was a Japanese manga critic and author. He is also known for being Comiket's co-founder and president. He died of lung cancer at 53. He won the 2007 Seiun Award in the special category and 2010 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Special Award. Jan Scott-Frazier (born Scott Frazier) is an American who has worked in various roles of the Japanese anime industry for 20 years, including producer. Frazier was one of the few foreigners to work in the Japanese anime industry. Career Frazier moved to Japan in April 1987 and switched into an animation education program that October. She would eventually teach at the school in December 1988. Frazier was in Hangzhou, China when the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 escalated. During her drive to the airport, she was briefly shot at. During Frazier's career she worked in many roles including animation checker, photographer, inbetweener, and others.
