The Katrineholm Open was a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour and the Nordic Golf League that was played at Katrineholms Golfklubb in Katrineholm, Sweden. The Swedish Challenge was played for the first time in August 2016, succeeding a Nordic Golf League event first held in July 2011. Katrineholm (pronunciation: or ) is a locality and the seat of Katrineholm Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 24,271 inhabitants in 2018. It is located in the inland of Södermanland and is the third largest urban area in the county after Eskilstuna and county seat Nyköping. History Early history The name Katrineholm comes from a ducal residence with this name, after Catherina Gyllenhorn who lived there. Adam Lasse Björn Hellgren (born 21 November 1990) is a Swedish professional golfer and Asian Tour player. He was runner-up in the 2021 Dormy Open on the Challenge Tour. Early life and amateur career Hellgren was born in 1990 in Västerås. He played ice hockey on one of Sweden's premier teams until he was 15 years old, when he focused on golf. As a junior, Hellgren won the 2010 Order of Merit on the Skandia Tour, a Swedish under-21 circuit, after recording two victories, two runner-up finishes, and five other top-10s. 2015 Nordic Golf League
The 2015 Nordic Golf League was the 17th season of the Nordic Golf League, one of four third-tier tours recognised by the European Tour. In July, it was announced that all Nordic Golf League events, beginning with the Master Promo Open, would receive Official World Golf Ranking points at the minimum level of 4 points for a winner of a 54-hole event. With the exception of a four-event Winter Series held in Spain and the Ecco German Masters, all tournaments were held in Norway, Sweden, Finland, or Denmark. Oliver James Farr (born 25 March 1988) is a Welsh professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won three times on the Challenge Tour. Professional career Farr played on mini-tours after turning professional. He finished first on the 2013 PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit to earn his Challenge Tour card for 2014. He won the Turkish Airlines Challenge in May 2014. He finished the season 10th in the Order of Merit to earn a place on the European Tour for 2015. Farr only made 10 cuts in 30 events on the 2015 European Tour, lost his card and returned to the Challenge Tour for 2016 where he finished 36th in the Order of Merit. Joël Stalter (born 8 July 1992) is a French professional golfer. Stalter played college golf at the University of California, Berkeley where he was a two-time All-American and won five tournaments. He represented Europe in the 2013 Palmer Cup. Stalter turned professional after graduating in 2014 and began playing on the Challenge Tour. He earned his first victory at the 2016 Swedish Challenge.
