Katowice International Fair
Katowice International Fair ( pl, Międzynarodowe Targi Katowickie, MTK) was an international trade fair in Katowice and one of the largest in Poland (the largest being the Poznań International Fair). A few dozen events were organized there each year, with the participation of some 4,500 companies. Location The Katowice International Fair grounds are located in the Silesian Central Park, next to the Silesian Planetarium, in the heart of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union. Expo Silesia
Expo Silesia is a former exhibition and trade fair center located in the city of Sosnowiec, Poland in the Silesian Voivodeship, located on the border with Dąbrowa Górnicza, 12 km from Katowice. The center provided exhibitors with 13.5 thousand m2 of exhibition space in an air-conditioned pavilion, 20 thousand m2 of external exhibition space, car parks for 1500 cars and a conference center that can serve up to 8060 guests, conference rooms that can be divided into smaller modules for 50 to 200 people, merged up to 400 people; In the form of a banquet or concert hall, the halls could accommodate up to 14,000 people. Katowice Trade Hall Roof Collapse
On 28 January 2006, the roof of one of the buildings at the Katowice International Fair (''Międzynarodowe Targi Katowickie'') collapsed in Chorzów / Katowice, Poland. At 16:15 GMT (17:15 local time), the central section of the roof of the hall collapsed, possibly due to the weight of snow on the building. According to the police there were roughly 700 people in the hall at the time of the collapse. A further collapse occurred 90 minutes later during rescue operations.
