Katie Kratz Stine
Katie Kratz Stine (born December 6, 1956) was a Republican member of the Kentucky Senate representing Campbell and Pendleton Counties as State Senator from the 24th Senate District from 1999 until 2015. She served as the President Pro tempore of the Kentucky State Senate. Personal life Stine lives in Southgate, Kentucky and is married to former Campbell Circuit Judge Fred A. Stine, who retired in 2017. They have two children, Caroline and Fritz. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Biology and from Northern Kentucky University's Salmon P. Chase College of Law. State Representative Stine served two terms in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. In 1994, she announced that she would challenge incumbent William "Bill" Donnermeyer. However, Donnermeyer announced that he would retire at the end of his term. President Pro Tempore Of The Kentucky Senate
President Pro Tempore of the Kentucky Senate was the title of highest-ranking member of the Kentucky Senate prior to enactment of a 1992 amendment to the Constitution of Kentucky. Prior to the 1992 amendment of Section 83 of the Constitution of Kentucky the Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky was the Senate's presiding officer, but was rarely present. The President pro tempore of the Kentucky Senate - called the Senate President Pro Tem for short - acted as the de facto presiding officer. The President Pro Tem usually presided over the body and was the most influential member of that body. The President Pro Tem was almost always chosen by the majority party from among their members, then elected on a party line vote. Northern Kentucky is the third-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky after Louisville and Lexington, and its cities and towns serve as the de facto "south side" communities of Cincinnati, Ohio. The three main counties of this metro area are Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties along the Ohio River (shown in red on the map), with other counties also included. The Kentucky Senate is the upper house of the Kentucky General Assembly. The Kentucky Senate is composed of 38 members elected from single-member districts throughout the Commonwealth.
