Katie Crutchfield
Waxahatchee is an American indie music project, formed in 2010 by American singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield (born 4 January 1989), previously a member of P.S. Eliot. The band is named after Waxahatchee Creek, in Alabama, where Crutchfield grew up. Originally an acoustic solo project, her recordings now tend to involve a backing band, and the music has increasingly been performed this way. The Sled Island Music & Arts Festival is an annual independent music and arts festival formed in 2007 and held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Each June, the five-day festival showcases over 200 bands, visual artists, filmmakers and comedians as well as over 40,000 attendees in multiple venues across the city. Saint Cloud (album)
''Saint Cloud'' is the fifth studio album by American indie rock act Waxahatchee, released on March 27, 2020, by Merge Records. Background Waxahatchee frontwoman Katie Crutchfield described the album's main themes as "addiction and codependency". Much of ''Saint Cloud'' was inspired by her struggles with alcoholism, which came to a fore during the promotional tour for Waxahatchee's '' Out in the Storm'' (2017), and subsequent decision to get sober. Crutchfield titled the album and its titular song after her father's hometown of St. Cloud, Florida, a small community outside of Orlando. Critical reception Robert Christgau reviewed the album in his Substack-published "Consumer Guide" column in July 2020. Brooklyn Steel
Brooklyn Steel is an 1800-capacity music venue in Brooklyn, New York, United States. In 2018 Brooklyn Steel was named one of the 10 best live music venues in America by Rolling Stone Magazine. Construction for the venue began in July 2016, and it opened on April 6, 2017, with a five-night run of sold-out concerts by American rock band LCD Soundsystem. The venue contains a main floor, a balcony, forty restrooms, and three bars. The name of the venue was inspired by the fact that the building was originally used as a steel manufacturing plant. Much of the steel from the original building was repurposed for the venue. Critical reception At opening, the venue was "easy to see…quickly becoming yet another Williamsburg cultural beacon". Media also compared the venue to Manhattan's Terminal 5, which is also operated by The Bowery Presents. Jawbreaker is an American punk rock band active from 1986 to 1996, and again since 2017. The band is considered to be extremely influential to the 1990s emo and punk genre with their "poetic take on hardcore." A number of rock critics have cited Jawbreaker as the best punk rock band of the 1990s. Lead vocalist and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister, and drummer Adam Pfahler formed the band while students at New York University, later relocating to Los Angeles where they released their debut album '' Unfun'' (1990) through independent record label Shredder Records. Kurt Samuel Vile (born January 3, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is known for his solo work and as the former lead guitarist of rock band the War on Drugs. Both in the studio and during live performances, Vile is accompanied by his backing band, the Violators, which currently includes Jesse Trbovich (guitar, saxophone), Rob Laakso (guitar, bass, keyboards), Kyle Spence (drums) and Adam Langellotti (bass).
