Kathy Horadam
Kathryn Jennifer Horadam (born 1951) is an Australian mathematician known for her work on Hadamard matrices and related topics in mathematics and information security. She is an Emeritus Professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Life Horadam is one of the three children of mathematicians Alwyn Horadam and Eleanor Mollie Horadam, and was born in 1951 in Armidale, New South Wales. She studied mathematics at Australian National University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1972 and completing her PhD in 1977. Her dissertation, ''The Homology of Groupnets'', was supervised by Neville Smythe. She worked for over 30 years at RMIT, becoming a professor of mathematics there in 1995. Additionally, she worked for three years in the Defence Science and Technology Group. Hadamard Matrix
In mathematics, a Hadamard matrix, named after the French mathematician Jacques Hadamard, is a square matrix whose entries are either +1 or −1 and whose rows are mutually orthogonal. In geometric terms, this means that each pair of rows in a Hadamard matrix represents two perpendicular vectors, while in combinatorial terms, it means that each pair of rows has matching entries in exactly half of their columns and mismatched entries in the remaining columns. It is a consequence of this definition that the corresponding properties hold for columns as well as rows. ''Mathematical Reviews'' is a journal published by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) that contains brief synopses, and in some cases evaluations, of many articles in mathematics, statistics, and theoretical computer science. The AMS also publishes an associated online bibliographic database called MathSciNet which contains an electronic version of ''Mathematical Reviews'' and additionally contains citation information for over 3.5 million items as of 2018. Reviews Mathematical Reviews was founded by Otto E. Neugebauer in 1940 as an alternative to the German journal ''Zentralblatt für Mathematik'', which Neugebauer had also founded a decade earlier, but which under the Nazis had begun censoring reviews by and of Jewish mathematicians. The goal of the new journal was to give reviews of every mathematical research publication. The ''Australasian Journal of Combinatorics'' is a triannual peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal covering combinatorics. The Australian Mathematical Society (AustMS) was founded in 1956 and is the national society of the mathematics profession in Australia. Institute Of Combinatorics And Its Applications
The Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications (ICA) is an international scientific organization formed in 1990 to increase the visibility and influence of the combinatorial community. In pursuit of this goal, the ICA sponsors conferences, publishes a bulletin and awards a number of medals, including the Euler, Hall, Kirkman, and Stanton Medals. It is based in Duluth, Minnesota and its operation office is housed at University of Minnesota Duluth. The institute was minimally active between 2010 and 2016 and resumed its full activities in March 2016. Membership The ICA has over 800 members in over forty countries. Membership is at three levels.
