Kathy Bernier
Kathleen M. "Kathy" Bernier (born April 29, 1956) is a politician in Wisconsin who serves as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate representing the 23rd district. She previously was the Chippewa County Clerk from 1998–2011, and served in the Wisconsin State Assembly for the 68th district from 2011 to 2019. In March 2018, Bernier announced that she would run to represent the 23rd district in the Wisconsin State Senate, an open seat due to the retirement of Terry Moulton. She was elected in the November election. Early life and education Bernier was born in Eau Claire to John and Marge (Ginder) Anderson and grew up in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin. Bernier graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1974 and was married in September 1977. While raising her children, she worked a variety of part-time and limited term jobs including certified nursing assistant, waitress, and census taker. Wisconsin's 23rd State Senate District
The 23rd Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in northwest Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Chippewa County and most of Clark County, as well as eastern Eau Claire County, eastern Dunn County, western Marathon County, and parts of northwest Jackson County and northeast Trempealeau County. The district is mostly rural, but contains the cities of Black River Falls and Chippewa Falls, most of the city of Marshfield, and part of the city of Eau Claire. Michael Gableman
Michael J. Gableman (born September 18, 1966) is an Americans, American lawyer and former justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. A Republican Party (US), Republican, he has been described as a hard-line conservative. From June 2021 until August 2022, Gableman was employed as a "special counsel" by Wisconsin Assembly speaker Robin Vos to investigate the results of the 2020 United States presidential election in Wisconsin. His fourteen month investigation resulted in various unsubstantiated accusations against municipal clerks and members of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, but found nothing of substance. Gableman himself became a lightning rod for controversy and was the subject of several lawsuits and personal disputes with other lawmakers; he was ultimately fired by Vos just three days after the August 2022 primary elections in Wisconsin.
