Catharine M. Young (born November 22, 1960) is an American politician. From May 2005 to March 2019, Young represented New York State's 57th district in the New York State Senate. The district includes all of Chautauqua County, Cattaraugus County and Allegany County, as well as seven towns in Livingston County. Prior to serving as Senator, Young represented New York's 149th State Assembly district from 1999 to 2005. She is a member of the Republican Party. Early life and education A Livingston County native, Young grew up on a farm. She attended State University of New York at Fredonia, where she met her future husband, Richard. Miss Texas USA
The Miss Texas USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Texas in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. This pageant is part of the Miss USA Organization, owned by Texas native Crystle Stewart, herself a Miss USA for 2008. The pageant is currently held in Houston. It has previously been hosted by El Paso, San Antonio, South Padre Island, Lubbock and Laredo. It was televised from 1971 to 2009. The current titleholder is R'Bonney Gabriel of Houston and was crowned on July 2, 2022 at Hilton Houston Post Oak in Houston. She represented Texas at Miss USA 2022 and won, earning her the right to represent the United States at Miss Universe 2022. Caroline Kate (Kay) Young (born January 30, 1944) is a Canadian former politician. She represented the riding of Terra Nova in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1993 to 1996 as a member of the Liberal Party. The daughter of Wallace Diamond and Nellie Emberley, she was born Caroline Kate Diamond in Whitbourne, Newfoundland and Labrador and was educated at Memorial University. She was a teacher in Lethbridge from 1967 to 1993. She married Walter Young. She defeated Progressive Conservative incumbent Glen Greening to win a seat in the Newfoundland assembly in 1993. (Mary) Kathleen Baxter, née Young, (30 May 1901 – 25 October 1988) was an English women's rights activist. Born in Bradford to a Roman Catholic family, Kathleen Young was educated at St. Joseph's Catholic College, Bradford and the Society of Oxford Home Students, Oxford. She worked as an inspector of taxes until obliged to resign from the Inland Revenue on marriage to a barrister, Herbert James Baxter, in 1931. In 1951 she joined the National Council of Women, rising to become vice-president in 1961-1964 and president in 1964–1966. In 1968 she wrote a paper on women's rights for the United Nations international conference on human rights. Taking up law later in life, she was called to the bar (Inner Temple) in 1971, although she stopped practice after her husband became seriously ill in 1974. Songs of Separation was a music project created in the aftermath of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum to explore through the medium of music ideas of separation. It was organised by double-bass player Jenny Hill and brought together ten female folk musicians from Scotland and England for one week in June 2015 on the Isle of Eigg. The resulting album won the "Best Album" category in the 2017 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Project The idea for Songs of Separation came when double bass player and composer Jenny Hill was living on the Isle of Eigg, one of the four Small Isles of the Inner Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland. Catharine Young (1826 – 15 December 1908) was a British journalist. Young was one of the first women to work on the staff of a newspaper, doing so before Eliza Lynn Lynton, who is often given this position. Biography Catharine Young was baptised on 19 November 1826. Young was the second of three daughters of Murdo Young, who developed '' The Sun'' into one of the leading London newspapers. She and her younger sister both worked on ''The Sun''; Young did general reporting and wrote leading articles, including one on the Battle of Solferino on 25 June 1859. She was described as 'a fine young lady of almost masculine appearance’. After her father sold ''The Sun'' in 1862, she joined one of the first news agencies, Central Press, under the management of Edward Spender. Cathy Young (born 1951) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Her first album, ''A Spoonful of Cathy Young'', was released in 1969. Her second album, ''Travel Stained'', was released in 1973.
