Kathrin Röggla
Kathrin Röggla (born 1971) is an Austrian writer, essayist and playwright. She was born in Salzburg, and lives in Berlin since 1992. She has written numerous prose works, including essays, dramas and radio plays. She has won a long range of awards for her literary works. In May 2012 she was elected as a member of the Academy of Arts, Berlin. And in November 2015 she got also elected as member of the national Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung in Darmstadt. Röggla is married with the theater director, actor and translator Leopold von Verschuer and mother of a son. Maylis De Kerangal
Maylis de Kerangal (born 16 June 1967) is a French author. Her novels deeply explore people in their work lives. She has won several awards for her work, and her novels have been published in several languages. Two have been adapted as films. Life and career Raised in Le Havre, Maylis de Kerangal studied history and philosophy in Rouen and Paris. She worked at Paris-based Éditions Gallimard in the children and youth department from 1991 to 1996, then travelled in the United States. After her return, she did graduate work at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences. De Kerangal wrote her first novel in 2000, and then became a full-time writer. Her celebrated novel, ''Birth of a Bridge'' (''Naissance d'un pont'', 2010) presents a literary saga of a handful of men and women who are charged with building a bridge somewhere in a mythical California. Since 1993, the Else Lasker-Schüler Dramatist Prize (german: Else-Lasker-Schüler-Dramatikerpreis, links=no) has been awarded by the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern on behalf of the Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture. The Mainzer Stadtschreiber (City clerk in Mainz) is an annual German literature award. It is awarded by ZDF, 3sat and the city of Mainz and was founded in 1984. The award is endowed with €12,500. Franz-Hessel-Preis or Franz Hessel Prize for Contemporary Literature is a literary prize of French literature, France and Germany for French and German authors. The prize was created as a tribute to the writer and translator Franz Hessel. This Franco-German prize is conceived and organized by the Villa Gillet in Lyon and the Genshagen Foundation in the Land of Brandenburg (next to Berlin).
