Kathmandu Debates
The Kathmandu Debates is a high school debating championship led by the youth of the Sano Sansar Initiative. The program aims to provide a platform to encourage young people to engage in social, political, and sustainable economic development issues through the use of the positive aspects of debating. The 2013 Kathmandu Debates commenced with educational tracks focused on providing knowledge of debating in the Karl Popper Debating Championship Format to the students in Nepal. More than a hundred young, amateur students participated in the debate tournament, organized with support from the American Embassy in Kathmandu. Nepal is one of the countries mostly dependent on remittances. Sano Sansar Initiative
Sano Sansar Initiative is a global youth-led non-profit organization and a platform for children and youth which was founded in February 2006 by Sagar Aryal in Nepal, to promote environment conservation, advocate children and youth on climate change, sustainable development, Rural Health and Education in the poverty prone 21st Century. Background The founder of Sano Sansar Initiative was 10 years old when all this began. With encouragement from friends, family and his school, Sano Sansar Initiative soon became one of the active children led non-profit initiative for children and youth in Nepal. Debate
Debate is a process that involves formal discourse on a particular topic, often including a moderator and audience. In a debate, arguments are put forward for often opposing viewpoints. Debates have historically occurred in public meetings, academic institutions, debate halls, coffeehouses, competitions, and legislative assemblies. Debate has also been conducted for educational and recreational purposes, usually associated with educational establishments and debating societies. Schools Debating Competitions
A school is an educational institution designed to provide learning spaces and learning environments for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers.
