Kathleen Hill
Glenna Kathleen Hill (born 1964) is an American diplomat and former United States Ambassador to Malta. She was nominated by President Barack Obama on July 8, 2015, and confirmed by the Senate on December 9, 2015. Early life and education Hill is the daughter of Mary Anne Girod Hill and Curtis Ray Hill. She earned a B.A. from the University of Denver and an M.A. from Columbia University. Career Hill began her career in 1995 with the Foreign Service serving in U.S. embassies in Belgrade, Serbia and Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. She then served as watch officer in the State Department Operations Center beginning in 1999. In 2000 she began an assignment in the Bureau of Europe and Eurasian Affairs and two years later moved to the U.S. embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She then became management officer in Milan, Italy. This is a list of ambassadors of the United States to Malta. Initially a part of the British Empire, Malta was granted full independence as the State of Malta on September 21, 1964. The United States recognized the new nation and established full diplomatic relations after its independence, and retained relations after Malta became a republic in 1974. Harrison Lewis was appointed as the first American diplomat in Malta as ''Chargé d'Affaires ad interim'' until an ambassador could be commissioned. Embassy The Embassy of the United States in Malta was first established in the capital Valletta, on September 21, 1964. It eventually moved to Sliema, and in 1974 it moved again to Floriana, a suburb of the Maltese capital. On 4 July 2011, the embassy was moved once again to a larger complex in Ta' Qali National Park in Attard. The embassy's website still lists its location as "Valletta". Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, (born 7 December 1958) is a Maltese politician who served as President of Malta from 2014 to 2019. She has been president of Eurochild since 2019.
