Kathleen Hersey
Kathleen Elizabeth Hersey (born February 21, 1990) is an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and finished fourth in the 200-meter butterfly in 2012. Early years and education Hersey was born in Athens, Georgia. Hersey is the daughter of Brian and Regina Hersey, who adopted her when she was three days old. Regina Hersey, a former freelance editor, died in January 2012 after a battle with colon cancer. Hersey says she draws inspiration from her father, a financial consultant who has used a wheelchair since the 1980s after a spinal cord aneurysm, but still maintains an active lifestyle. She is a 2008 graduate of Marist School in Atlanta, where she set national high school records in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley. Madisyn Cox (born May 30, 1995) is an American former swimmer specialising in individual medley events. College career For the Texas Longhorns she was named the 2015 and 2017 Big 12 Conference Swimmer of the Year. She is a 10-time All-American. International career 2014 She competed in the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay at the Short Course World Championships. 2015 Cox took silver in 200-meter individual medley at the 2015 Summer Universiade. 2016 She won bronze in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2016 Short Course World Championships. She had originally finished 4th, but was elevated to bronze, along with teammate Ella Eastin being elevated to silver, when Ánh Viên Nguyễn was disqualified from second place. 2017 Cox qualified to swim the 200-meter individual medley at the World Championships after finishing second at the 2017 US Nationals. Natalie Cammile Adams (born September 11, 1991) is an American competition swimmer who specializes in butterfly events. She represented the United States in the 200-meter butterfly event at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Olympics in the same event. Career She was born in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Cypress Woods High School in Cypress, Texas. Adams attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where she swam for the Texas A&M Aggies swimming and diving team in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition from 2011 to 2014. The 2011 Duel in the Pool was a swimming meet held December 16 and 17, 2011 at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center in Atlanta. It was a short course (25m), dual meet between a team from the United States and a European All-Star team featuring swimmers from 18 nations. 2009 World Aquatics Championships
The 2009 World Aquatics Championships ( it, Campionati mondiali di nuoto 2009) or the XIII FINA World Championships were held in Rome, Italy from 18 July to 2 August 2009. The 2009 Championships featured competition in all 5 aquatics disciplines: diving, swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming and water polo. The women's 200 metre butterfly event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on 12–14 August at the Beijing National Aquatics Center in Beijing, China. In front of a large home crowd inside the Water Cube, Liu Zige powered past the entire field to capture a first gold medal for the host nation in swimming. She set a new world record of 2:04.18 to cut off a 1.32-second standard set by Australia's Jessicah Schipper at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Eddie Reese
Edwin Charles Reese (born July 23, 1941) is an American college and Olympic swimming coach, and a former college swimmer. Reese serves as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns men's swimming and diving team that represents the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. He previously served as the men's head coach for the United States' Olympic Swimming Team in 2004 and 2008, as well as an assistant coach at the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2012 Summer Olympics. He is widely regarded as the greatest swim coach in history. Early years Reese was born in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1941.
