Katherin Echandia
Katherin Oriana Echandia Zárate (born 14 August 2001) is a Venezuelan weightlifter. She won the bronze medal in the women's 45kg event at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. She won two gold medals at the 2022 Bolivarian Games held in Valledupar, Colombia. Career Echandia won the gold medal in the girls' 44kg event at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A month later, she won the bronze medal in the women's 45kg event at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The ''snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the clean), and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk). The 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was a weightlifting competition held in Bogotá, Colombia in December 2022. It was scheduled to be held in Chongqing, China but this changed in March 2022 as a result of COVID-19 measures in China. The new location was announced in April 2022.
