Katharine Berkoff (born January 28, 2001) is an American Swimming (sport), swimmer who won four medals at the Swimming at the World Aquatics Championships, World Championships. Career Early career Berkoff was born in 2001. She is the daughter of David Berkoff, a former swimmer who won four medals at the Swimming at the Summer Olympics, Summer Olympics. Backstroke
Backstroke or back crawl is one of the four Swimming (sport), swimming styles used in competitive events regulated by FINA, and the only one of these styles swum on the back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of swimmers not being able to see where they are going. It also has a different start from the other three competition swimming styles. The swimming style is similar to an ''upside down'' front crawl or freestyle. Both backstroke and front crawl are long-axis strokes. In individual medley backstroke is the second style swum; in the medley relay it is the first style swum. 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming And Diving Championships
The 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships were contested from March 17-20, 2021 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina at the 39th annual NCAA-sanctioned swim meet to determine the team and individual national champions of Division I women's collegiate swimming and diving in the United States. Hosted by the NC State Wolfpack of North Carolina State University and the Greensboro Sports Foundation, the meet was the first NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship to be held since 2019, after the 2020 meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stringent guidelines were imposed at the meet to comply with public health standards in the face of the continuing pandemic. The Virginia Cavaliers won the meet-- their first NCAA Swimming & Diving title and also the first in the Atlantic Coast Conference. NC State finished second, and Texas third. David Berkoff
David Charles "Dave" Berkoff (born November 30, 1966) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. Berkoff was a backstroke specialist who won a total of four Olympic medals during his career at two different Olympic Games. He is best known for his powerful underwater start, the eponymous "Berkoff Blastoff". At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, he won a gold medal by swimming the backstroke leg for the winning U.S. men's team in the men's 4×100-meter medley relay in the event final. Individually, he also won a silver medal by placing second in the men's 100-meter backstroke event. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.
