Kathanayaki
''Kathanayaki'' () ) is a 1955 Indian Tamil language romantic comedy film directed by K. Ramnoth and produced by T. R. Sundaram. The film stars Padmini, T. R. Ramachandran, M. N. Rajam and K. A. Thangavelu. It was released on 19 February 1955. The film's story takes inspiration from the 1951 film ''Happy Go Lovely.'' Plot The story set in a drama troupe company. Padmini leaves home and joins drama company whose owner T. R. Ramachandran falls in love with her. She faces many problems and how she and her boyfriend solve them forms the rest of the plot. Suratha
Suratha ( ta, சுரதா) (23 November 1921 – 20 June 2006) was a Tamil poet, known for his similes. He was called "Uvamai Kavignar" ("poet of comparisons"). Early life Suratha was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu as T. Rajagopal on 23 November 1921. He derived his pen name from Subburathnadasan (Bharathidasan, a poet of yesteryear). Literary works ''Saavin Mutham'' (meaning "kiss of death") and ''Thenmazhai'' (meaning "rain of honey") were among his notable works. He also ran a weekly Kaavyam, entirely dedicated to poetry. Padmini (actress)
Padmini Ramachandran (12 June 1932 – 24 September 2006) was an Indian actress and trained Bharatanatyam dancer, who acted in over 250 Indian films. She acted in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Russian language films. Padmini, with her elder sister Lalitha and her younger sister Ragini, were called the "Travancore sisters". Early life Padmini was born and raised in Trivandrum (present-day Thiruvananthapuram), in what was then the princely state of Travancore (now the Indian state of Kerala) to a Malayali-speaking family. She was the second daughter of Sree Thankappan Pillai and Saraswathi Amma. Career At the age of 16, Padmini was cast as the dancer in the Hindi film '' Kalpana'' (1948), launching her career. Madabhushi Rangadorai (born 8 November 1937), better known by his pen name Randor Guy, is an Indian lawyer, columnist and film and legal historian associated with the English language newspaper ''The Hindu''. Modern Theaters Ltd was an Indian film studio in Salem, Tamil Nadu started by T. R. Sundaram Mudaliar in 1935. The studio produced over more than 150 films until 1982 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Sinhalese and even English of which Tamil were the majority. History In the early 1930s, T. R. Sundaram entered the world of Tamil cinema as a partner of a Salem-based film company, Angel Films.
