Kateřina Smutná
Kateřina Smutná (born 13 June 1983) is a Czech national ski team member and a former Austrian cross-country skier. Personal life Smutná grew up in Jablonec and after trying modern gymnastics became a member of ski club in the same town. Career For the Czech Republic Smutná achieved many success and titles of national champion in younger and junior categories in cross-country skiing as well as rollerski in the summer. In 2002, Smutná finished 13th at the World Junior Championships. A year later in 2003, she competed in Val di Fiemme as a member of the Czech national cross country team. After an unsatisfying result, she was accused by the head coach of sabotaging the race and was sacked from the national team. This was followed by several incidents and conflicts which she attributed to an inflexible and old-fashioned management system. She last competed for the Czech Republic in 2005. Jablonec Nad Nisou
Jablonec nad Nisou (; german: Gablonz an der Neiße) is a city in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 45,000 inhabitants. It is the second-largest city in the region. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 took place 22 February – 4 March 2007 in Sapporo, Japan. It was the second time this city has hosted these championships, having previously done so in the 1972 Winter Olympics. Sapporo was selected as venue by vote at the 43rd FIS World Congress in Portorož, Slovenia, on 6 June 2002. It also marked the third time the championships were hosted outside Europe in a year that did not coincide with the Winter Olympics; it was the first championship held in Asia. The ski jumping team normal hill event was not held, as it had been in 2005. The women's 15 kilometre skiathlon cross-country skiing competition at the 2014 Sochi Olympics took place at 14:00 ( MSK) on 8 February 2014 at Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex. The defending champion was Marit Bjørgen from Norway, who also became the 2014 Olympic champion. The 2010 silver medalist Anna Haag did not participate, and the 2010 bronze medalist, Justyna Kowalczyk, finished sixth. Charlotte Kalla from Sweden became the silver medalist, and Heidi Weng from Norway took bronze. A large group of skiers kept together at the classical part of the course, but in the free skiing part soon a group of five skiers took the lead. The group included Bjørgen, Kalla, Weng, Therese Johaug, and Aino-Kaisa Saarinen. Shortly before the finish, Kalla escaped but was overtaken by Bjørgen at the finish line.
