Kate Forte was the president of Harpo Films for 18 years until 2013. Before working for Harpo Films, she was a developer of multiple Hallmark Hall of Fame television films. She won two Producers Guild of America Awards, one in 2000 for producing ''Tuesdays with Morrie'' along with Oprah Winfrey and in 2007 for producing ''The Great Debaters ''The Great Debaters'' is a 2007 American biographical drama film directed by and starring Denzel Washington. It is based on an article written about the Wiley College debate team by Tony Scherman for the spring 1997 issue of ''American Legacy'' ...'', also along with Winfrey. Harpo Productions (or Harpo Studios) is an American multimedia production company founded by Oprah Winfrey and based in West Hollywood, California. It is the sole subsidiary of her media and entertainment company Harpo, Inc. The name "Harpo" is "Oprah" spelled backward, and it was also the name of her on-screen husband in ''The Color Purple''. ''Hallmark Hall of Fame'', originally called ''Hallmark Television Playhouse'', is an anthology program on American television, sponsored by Hallmark Cards, a Kansas City-based greeting card company. ''Tuesdays with Morrie'' is a 1999 American made-for-television film adaptation of Mitch Albom's book of the same title.
