Kate Fitzgerald
Kate Fitzgerald (born 3 July 1956) is a British television actress from Liverpool. She best known for playing Doreen Corkhill for five years in defunct soap opera ''Brookside (television programme), Brookside'' (1985–1990), List of Coronation Street characters (2015)#Nancy Tinker, Nancy Tinker in ''Coronation Street'', and List of Benidorm cast and characters#Past characters, Loretta Chase in ''Benidorm (British TV series), Benidorm''. Education Fitzgerald attended Notre Dame Catholic College, Liverpool, Notre Dame Catholic College girls' school in Liverpool, later graduating from drama school. Career Fitzgerald's first appearance on television was in 1979 on ''ITV Playhouse'' in the Willy Russell play ''The Daughters of Albion''. Kate went on to star in Russell's ''Educating Rita'' at the Liverpool Playhouse in 1981, where she played Rita. ''Queer as Folk'' is a 1999 British television series that chronicles the lives of three gay men living in Manchester's gay village around Canal Street. Initially running for eight episodes, a two-part follow up was shown in 2000. It was written by Russell T Davies and produced by Red Production Company for Channel 4. Background The title of the programme comes from a historic English saying, "there's nowt so queer as folk", meaning "there's nothing as strange as people"; which is a word play on the modern-day English sense of "queer", as homosexual. ''Sinchronicity'' is a six-part comedy-drama series broadcast on BBC Three in the United Kingdom (16 July 2006 — 20 August 2006). Set in Manchester, the programme is narrated by Nathan (Paul Chequer) and focuses on the love triangle of him, Fi (Jemima Rooper), and Jase ( Daniel Percival). ''The Lakes'' is a British television drama series, created and principally written by Jimmy McGovern, first broadcast on BBC1 on 14 September 1997. The series, which was principally filmed in and around Patterdale and The Ullswater Hotel, Glenridding, stars John Simm as Danny Kavanagh, a hotel porter, compulsive gambler, and philanderer who escapes from the dole queues in Liverpool to live in the Lake District. Ariel (The Tempest)
Ariel is a spirit who appears in William Shakespeare's play '' The Tempest''. Ariel is bound to serve the magician Prospero, who rescued him from the tree in which he was imprisoned by Sycorax, the witch who previously inhabited the island. Prospero greets disobedience with a reminder that he saved Ariel from Sycorax's spell, and with promises to grant Ariel his freedom. Ariel is Prospero's eyes and ears throughout the play, using his magical abilities to cause the tempest in Act One which gives the play its name, and to foil other characters' plots to bring down their master. Ariel means "Lion of God" in the Hebrew language. Ariel may also be a simple play on the word "aerial".
