Katarzyna Grochola (Polish pronunciation: ; born 18 July 1957) is a Polish writer and journalist. Biography Grochola was born in Krotoszyn, Poland. Her mother was a specialist in Polish studies and her father was a lawyer. She finished Juliusz Słowacki Grammar School in Warsaw. She always wanted to become a writer but by the time she took up writing she worked as a hospital attendant, a consultant in a marriage bureau, and a confectioner's assistant. She cooperated with magazines like ''Jestem'' and ''Poradnik domowy''. Grochola has a daughter named Dorota Szelągowska who is a journalist and a grandson – Antoni. She participated in XI edition of Dancing with the Stars broadcast by TVN channel and together with her dance partner, Jan Klimek, took third place. In Poland her books were immensely popular and sold 5 million copies. Krotoszyn
Krotoszyn (german: Krotoschin, yi, קראטאשין ''Krotoshin'') is a town in west-central Poland with 30,010 inhabitants . It has been part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship since 1999; it was within Kalisz Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. History Krotoszyn was founded by local nobleman , participant of the Battle of Grunwald, and was granted town rights in 1415 by King Władysław II Jagiełło. It was a private town owned by the Krotoski, Niewieski, Rozdrażewski and Potocki families, historically located in the Kalisz Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Polish Crown. After the town suffered a fire in 1453, King Casimir IV of Poland vested it with new privileges, establishing a weekly market and three annual fairs. Empik (stylised as empi̓k) is a Polish commercial chain selling books, international press and media products (including film, music, and software). The chain also owns a photo company, Empik Foto, as well as a foreign language school, Empik School. History EMPiK chain began during Poland's communist period as KMPiK ( pl, Klub Międzynarodowej Prasy i Książki, the International Press and Book Club) owned by the Prasa-Książka-Ruch monopoly which financed the PZPR Party from its revenue. In 1991 it was acquired by businessmen Jacek Dębski, Janusz Romanowski (a former reserve police officer) and Yaron Bruckner, and given its current name. While initially it was partially owned by the Polish state, in 1994 it was sold completely by the State Treasury to Bruckner's Eastbridge N.V. Life and career From 1991, she spent a decade working at Teatr Dramatyczny in Warsaw, then at TR Warszawa. She earned critical acclaim for her distinguished roles in Krzysztof Warlikowski's performances (Electra, The Taming of the Shrew, Krum, Angels in America and (A)pollonia).
