Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment
The Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment be, Полк імя Кастуся Каліноўскага, translit=Połk imia Kastusia Kalinoŭskaha (also known as simply Połk Kalinoŭskaha or the Kalinoŭski Regiment, formerly the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Battalion until May 2022) is a group of Belarusian opposition volunteers, which was formed to defend Ukraine against the 2022 Russian invasion. As of March 2022, it was reported that more than a thousand Belarusians have applied to join the unit. According to its own statements, the battalion is not incorporated into the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine in order to preserve greater autonomy. Belarusian volunteers in the International Legion are organised in the Pahonia Regiment. The Russo-Ukrainian War has seen a significant amount of foreign fighters join both sides of the conflict. It had been estimated prior to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine that there were approximately 17,000 foreign fighters in Ukraine. The Pahonia Regiment, be, Беларускі полк «Пагоня», translit=Biełaruski połk "Pahonia". is a group of Belarusian opposition volunteers, which was formed to defend Ukraine against the 2022 Russian invasion. History On March 30, 2022, political activist Vadzim Prakopieu announced the beginning of the formation of the Belarusian Pahonia Regiment as part of the International Legion of Territorial Defence of Ukraine. The Kyiv offensive was a theater in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. It involved attacks by Russia across the Russo-Ukrainian and Belarusian–Ukrainian borders beginning on 24 February 2022 for the control of Kyiv and its surrounding areas. Russian operations around Kyiv saw the occupation of parts of neighbouring Zhytomyr Oblast as well. The Monument to Belarusians who died for Ukraine in Kyiv is the memorial sign dedicated to the Belarusians who died during the events at Euromaidan and Russian-Ukrainian war. The memorial was opened on March 28, 2016. It is located on the building number 22 on the Belarusian street in Kyiv. The War in Donbas, russian: Война на Донбассе was an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War.
