Stratos, Greece
Stratos ( el, Στράτος, la, Stratus) is a settlement in central Aetolia-Acarnania, Western Greece. It is best known for its impressive remains of the namesake ancient Greek city and capital of Acarnania, which lie on a hillside about 500m north of the modern village. Stratos is situated on the right bank of the river Acheloos, 9 km northwest of the town of Agrinio. The area north of Stratos is mountainous, whereas the south is flat. It is now an Aromanian (Vlach) village and a municipal unit of the Agrinio municipality. Nemea ( el, Νεμέα) is a town in Corinthia, Greece, and the seat of municipality with the same name (Δήμος Νεμέας). It is located a few kilometres west of ancient Nemea, with a population of under four thousand people. The municipality has an area of 204.708 km2. Geography Nemea (altitude ca. 300m) is situated in a relatively plain basin surrounded by mountains, that reach ca. 750m.. The ancient town, Αρχαία Νεμέα, (at ca. 360m) is in a somewhat smaller basin to the east. Both basins empty through their own valley into the Gulf of Corinth. Kastraki ( el, Καστρακί) is a former community in Kastoria regional unit, West Macedonia, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kastoria, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 78.415 km2. Population 560 (2011). The seat of the community was in Ieropigi. The other village in the community is Dendrochori. The village Agios Dimitrios (Labanitsa) is abandoned today. Kastraki, Trikala
Kastraki ( el, Καστράκι) is a village in Kalabaka municipality, Trikala, Thessaly, Greece. It is located just northwest, within walking distance, of the main town of Kalabaka. The village had a population of 1172 as of 2011. The administrative village occupies an area of 47.9 km2. Its elevation is 275 metres above sea level. Etymology The name ''Kastraki'' is derived from the word ''kastro'', or Byzantine castle. The castle was built by Andronikos Palaiologos and stood until 1362. The castle is in ruins today. History During the early 1700s, Kastraki was formed from an amalgamation of hamlets called Rouxiori, Agia Paraskevi, Rigilavo, and Triskiano. These hamlets were founded by migrants from northern Epirus (i.e., southern Albania) who were fleeing from the Ottomans. Kalampaka
Kalabaka ( el, Καλαμπάκα, ''Kalabáka'', alternative transliterations are ''Kalambaka'' and ''Kalampaka'') is a town and seat of the municipality of Meteora in the Trikala regional unit, part of Thessaly in Greece.
