Alexandra Veronica Kasser Mochary (born May 4, 1967) is an American politician, attorney and advocate who served as a member of the Connecticut State Senate for the 36th district from 2019 to 2021. Connecticut's 36th district covers Greenwich and parts of Stamford and New Canaan. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was the first Democrat to be elected to this seat since 1933. Early life and education Kasser was born Alexandra Veronica Mochary on May 4, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, the first of two children of Mary Mochary (née Kasser; b. 1942), an attorney and former mayor of Montclair, New Jersey and Republican nominee for United States Senate in 1984, and Stephen E. Rodolphe Kasser
Rodolphe Kasser (14 January 1927 – 8 October 2013), was a Swiss philologist, archaeologist, and a Coptic scholar. He was an expert in translation of ancient Coptic language manuscripts. Biography Born in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, Kasser obtained his higher education in theology in Lausanne and in Paris from 1946 to 1950 and a diploma from the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Ph.D. equivalent) in Paris in 1964. He conducted pastoral ministry in Switzerland and in France from 1953 to 1959. From 1963 to 1998 he was on the staff at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Geneva, lecturing in Coptic languages and literature. First as professor extraordinary from 1963 to 1976, then as professor from 1976 to 1998. After 1965 he was the head of the archaeological excavations of the Swiss Mission of Coptic Archaeology in the Kellia, Lower Egypt. Elsbeth Kasser
Elsbeth Kasser (11 May 1910 – 15 May 1992), known as Angel of Gurs, was a Swiss nurse and humanitarian aid worker for refugees in the internment camp of Gurs, located in Southern France from 1940 to 1943, and in other places. Biography Born on 11 May 1910 in Niederscherli, Bern, Switzerland, Elsbeth Kasser was the daughter of Karl Friedrich Hermann Kasser and Anna von Gruyeres. After finishing her school education, she learned foreign languages in French-speaking Switzerland and in England. She later started her professional career as a nurse in Thun, and Bern. Through one of her relatives, she was introduced to Regina Kägi-Fuchsmann (1889 –1972), who was mobilizing humanitarian aid for Spain, which was defeated during the Spanish Civil War.
