Alex Karras
Alexander George Karras (July 15, 1935 – October 10, 2012) was an American football player, professional wrestler, sportscaster, and actor. He was a four-time Pro Bowl player with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL), where he played from 1958 to 1970. As an actor, Karras played Mongo in the 1974 comedy film '' Blazing Saddles''. He starred as George Papadopolis, the adoptive father of Webster Long (Emmanuel Lewis), in the ABC sitcom '' Webster'' (1983–1989) alongside his wife Susan Clark. Karras also had a prominent role in ''Victor/Victoria'', starring Julie Andrews and James Garner. Theodore John Karras III (born March 15, 1993) is an American football center for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Illinois, and was drafted in sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, with whom he won two Super Bowl championships. He spent the 2020 season with the Miami Dolphins before returning to New England the next season. Nolan Karras
Nolan E. Karras (born December 30, 1944 in Ogden, Utah) is an American politician and businessman who served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 1981 to 1990. Early life and education Karras earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Banking and Finance from Weber State College and MBA from the University of Utah in 1970. Career Karras has been a member of the board of trustees of Weber State University since 2013 and chair since 2015. He served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 1981 to 1990, representing Roy, Utah. He held the office of Speaker of the House from 1989 to 1990. Vasilis Karras
Vasilis Karras ( el, Βασίλης Καρράς; born Vasilis Kesoglidis on 12 November 1953) is a Greek folk singer. Biography Karras was born in Kokkinohori, near Kavala, Greece. At the age of 10, his family moved to Thessaloniki. Also around this time his brother Damian and his sister Anastasia were born. Growing up in the streets of Thessaloniki allowed Karras considerable independence and many of the friendships he created there have lasted well into his life until now. In the summer of 1969, Karras made a brief appearance at the club "Prosfygas" in Evosmos, Thessaloniki and made an immediate impact. Even though he was only 16 years old, he became a favourite in the city suburbs due to his distinctive then raspy voice. Ruth Mazo Karras (born February 23, 1957) is an American historian and author of the Middle Ages whose interests are masculinity and sexuality in Christian and Jewish society during the Middle Ages. Her book, ''Unmarriages: Women, Men, and Sexual Unions in the Middle Ages,'' was named co-winner of the American Historical Association's Joan Kelly Memorial Prize in Women's History for 2012. Since 2018, Ruth Mazo Karras has held an appointment as the Lecky Professor of History at Trinity College Dublin. She was also the President of the Medieval Academy of America in 2019–20. John J. Karras (January 29, 1928 – November 6, 2008) was an American football halfback who played one season with the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in the second round of the 1952 NFL Draft. Karras had previously played college football at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and attended Argo Community High School in Summit, Illinois. He was a Consensus All-American in 1951. College career Karras first enrolled at the University of Illinois as a freshman in 1946 and then spent 18 months in the United States Army holding the rank of private first class. Theodore George Karras Sr. (January 31, 1934 – January 26, 2016) was a National Football League (NFL) player. He played for nine seasons with four teams, winning a championship with the Chicago Bears in 1963 as a guard. Karras played college football for Indiana University. George Karras
George Karras (c. 1929 – March 5, 2017) was an American football player, coach, scout and executive. He served as the head football coach at Wichita State University from 1965 to 1966, compiling a record of 4–15. Karras gave Bill Parcells his first full-time coaching job while the Wichita State head coach. He left Wichita in 1966 to be the line coach at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was previously the defensive coach there before coming to Wichita in 1964. Karras played college football as a guard at Villanova University from 1953 to 1955. Louis George Karras (September 19, 1927 – September 20, 2018) was an American football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins, until an eye injury prematurely ended his career. He played college football at Purdue University. Karras was drafted 32nd in the third round of the 1950 NFL draft. ''The Exorcist'' is a 1971 horror novel by American writer William Peter Blatty. The book details the demonic possession of eleven-year-old Regan MacNeil, the daughter of a famous actress, and the two priests who attempt to exorcise the demon. Published by Harper & Row, the novel was the basis of a highly successful film adaptation released two years later, whose screenplay was also written and produced by Blatty, and part of ''The Exorcist'' franchise.
