Cinema Of Karnataka
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film ''Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bangalore. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen such as B. V. Girish Kasaravalli
Girish Kasaravalli (born 3 December 1950) is an Indian film director, in the Kannada cinema, and one of the pioneers of the Parallel Cinema. Known internationally for his works, Kasaravalli has garnered fourteen National Film Awards, including four Best Feature Films; ''Ghatashraddha'' (1977), '' Tabarana Kathe'' (1986), ''Thaayi Saheba'' (1997) and ''Dweepa'' (2002). In 2011, he was awarded with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by Government of India. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar is an Indian director, actor, screenwriter and a lyricist who predominantly works in Kannada Cinema. He made his film debut as a screenplay writer in ''Kadina Benki'' (1986) which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film and the Karnataka State Award. Aditya (actor)
Aditya is an Indian film producer and actor, primarily appearing in Kannada films. He made his acting debut in 2004, starring in ''Love'' and went on to appear in several commercially successful films. He is the son of Kannada director Rajendra Singh Babu. Career Aditya's career began at the age of 21, when he began producing many of the films directed by his father. ''Bhoomi Thayiya Chochchala Maga'' () is a 1998 Indian Kannada-language drama film directed and written by Rajendra Singh Babu. It features Shiva Rajkumar and Ramesh Aravind along with Vijayalakshmi and Shilpa in other pivotal roles. Dr.Parvathamma Rajkumar (6 December 1939 – 31 May 2017) was an Indian film producer and distributor. She was the wife of veteran Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar. She produced successful films featuring Rajkumar and their sons Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar under the production house named "Poornima Enterprises". 2000–01 Karnataka State Film Awards
The 2000–01 Karnataka State Film Awards were presented by Government of Karnataka to felicitate the best of Kannada Cinema released in the year 2000. The awards were announced by the Minister of State for Information B. K. Chandrashekar, and M. S. Sathyu, the Chairman of the Film Awards Committee on 28 May 2001. Sathyu criticized the films of the year in that "most of the films were substandard and were marked by sex and violence. Women were depicted lowly, and most of the films had no message to convey leave alone being educative", while adding that the films also had "fascist tendency" in them.
