Karmøy (island)
Karmøy (locally called ''Karmøyne'' or ''Karmøynå'') is an island in the northwestern part of Rogaland county, Norway. The island makes up the majority of the municipality of Karmøy, along with the islands of Feøy, some smaller surrounding islands, and part of the mainland south of the municipality of Haugesund. It is the largest island in Rogaland county. The island is separated from the mainland by the Karmsundet strait. The Boknafjorden lies to the south and southeast of the island. The Sirafjorden lies to the west, separating Karmøy from the islands of Utsira and Feøy. The island of Karmøy is the location of the towns of Kopervik, Skudeneshavn, and Åkrehamn. The island has a population of about 33,101 people (2014). The island is connected to the mainland by the Karmsund Bridge in the north and the Karmøy Tunnel in the central part. Skudeneshavn
(also known as Skudeneshamn or simply Skudenes) is a town in Karmøy municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located on the southernmost tip of the island of Karmøy at the entrance to the Boknafjorden and Karmsundet strait. The town is part of the traditional district of Haugaland. The town was an independent municipality due to its status as a ladested from 1858 until 1965. The town has a population (2019) of 3,334 and a population density of . This makes Skudeneshavn one of the smallest towns in Norway (Kolvereid, with 1,470 inhabitants is the smallest). European Route E134
European highway E 134 ( no, Europavei 134) is a European highway that crosses Norway starting at Haugesund Airport, Karmøy near the city of Haugesund on the west coast, heading over Haukeli, passing the city of Drammen, and ending in Vassum on the east side of the Oslofjord Tunnel. With the highest point at above sea level, the road is sensitive to snow conditions and foul weather during the winter season, during which the mountainous sections, especially near Haukelifjell skiing center, may be closed in short periods. The stretch of road through the mountains is called Haukelifjell. Haugesund Airport, Karmøy
Haugesund Airport ( no, Haugesund lufthavn; ) is an international airport serving the Haugaland region in Norway. It is located just outside the town of Haugesund on the Helganes peninsula on the island of Karmøy in the municipality of Karmøy, Rogaland county, Norway. The airport features a runway aligned 13/31. Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Norwegian Air Shuttle provide services to Oslo. Haugesund Airport also offers discounts on international routes and has some service from low-cost carriers. The airport handled 694,005 passengers in 2014. The airport opened on 8 April 1975. Karmøy Tunnel
The Karmøy Tunnel ( no, Karmøytunnelen) was the longest subsea road tunnel in Norway until the opening of Ryfast in 2019, and is located in the municipalities of Karmøy and Tysvær in Rogaland county. At long, it links the island of Karmøy with the European Route E39 highway on the mainland. The town of Kopervik lies just south of the western end of the tunnel. The tunnel is a major part of the T-Link project, which is a toll road project that was opened in September 2013. At Fosen, the Karmøy Tunnel has an underground roundabout which connects it to another (much shorter) tunnel which heads north to a highway that leads to the town of Haugesund. or Åkrahamn (commonly known as simply ''Åkra'') is a small town in Karmøy municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The town is located on the west side of the island of Karmøy in the traditional district of Haugaland. The town sits about west of the town of Kopervik, about north of the town of Skudeneshavn, and about southwest of the town of Haugesund. Kopervik
Kopervik is the largest town on the island of Karmøy in Rogaland county, Norway. It is also the administrative centre of the municipality of Karmøy. Utsira is an island in Rogaland county, Norway. Utsira Church and Utsira Lighthouse are located on the island. The island makes up almost all of Utsira municipality. The island lies about west of the island of Karmøy, with the Sirafjorden lying between the two islands. The island is only connected to the mainland by ferry. Boknafjorden
Boknafjord or Boknafjorden ( en, Bokna Fjord) is a fjord located in Rogaland county, Norway. The huge fjord lies between the cities of Stavanger and Haugesund and dominates the central part of the county. The main part of the fjord is shared between the municipalities of Kvitsøy, Stavanger, Tysvær, Bokn, and Karmøy. There are dozens of smaller fjords that branch off the main part of the fjord, reaching most municipalities in the county.
