Carl Heinrich Zimmermann
Carl Heinrich Zimmermann (Frankenau, 7 September 1864 – Hanau, 13 January 1949), was a German military officer and last commander of the ''Schutztruppe'' in German Kamerun. Life He served as military instructor in the Chilean Army between 1895 and 1897. In 1900 he was sent to serve in the Schutztruppe in Kamerun, of which he became the commander in 1909. It was in this function that he directed the military operations against a Franco-British-Belgian invasion of Kamerun, after the outbreak of the First World War. Carl Zimmerman (24 July 1898 – 10 May 1969) was a New Zealand cricketer. He played nine first-class matches for Otago between 1925 and 1930. He lived most of his life in Oamaru, working first as a teacher, then as a lawyer. Life and work career Carl Zimmerman's father, Richard Carl Zimmerman, was a violinist, conductor and violin teacher who migrated to New Zealand from Austria in 1888 and eventually settled in Christchurch. Carl was educated at Christchurch Boys' High School and at Canterbury College, where he was awarded a Master of Arts degree with first-class honours in history. He taught history at Waitaki Boys' High School in Oamaru from 1920. Carl G. Zimmermann (March 26, 1918 – April 11, 2014), nicknamed the "Dean of Milwaukee News," was an American television journalist, news anchor and World War II (WW2) war correspondent. Zimmermann had the longest on-air broadcasting career in the history of the Milwaukee media market, having spent more than 50 years at television and radio stations in the Milwaukee metropolitan area, most notably at WITI. Justus Joseph Georg Friedrich Karl Zimmermann (23 August 1803 – 12 June 1877) was a German Protestant theologian. His older brother, Ernst Zimmermann (1786–1832), was also a theologian. Born in the Hessian city of Darmstadt, He studied philology and theology at the universities of Giessen and Heidelberg, and for several years worked as a teacher in various schools.
