Karl Triana
Karl Lewis Triana (born October 7, 1992) is a Colombian former professional baseball pitcher. Career Arizona Diamondbacks Triana pitched for the Missoula Osprey of the Rookie-level Pioneer League in 2012. He was promoted to the Hillsboro Hops of the Low–A Northwest League for the 2013 season, but struggled, and was demoted to Missoula. Gary SouthShore RailCats In 2016, Triana pitched for the Gary SouthShore RailCats of the American Association of Professional Baseball. During the season, he threw a no-hitter and set the franchise single-season record for strikeouts. Baltimore Orioles On April 5, 2017, Triana signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles organization. He spent the year with the High–A Frederick Keys, where he made 10 appearances and registered a 5.95 ERA with 22 strikeouts in innings pitched. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. 2017 World Baseball Classic
The 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, composed of 16 competing nations, held from March 6 to March 22, 2017. It was the fourth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. The first-round hosts were Seoul, Tokyo, Miami, and Zapopan. The second-round hosts were Tokyo and San Diego, and the championship round was played in Los Angeles. Twelve of the 16 competing nations qualified based on their performance during the first round of the 2013 tournament; the remaining four nations were the winners of four qualification tournaments that took place in February, March, and September 2016.
