Karl Kesel
Karl Kesel (born January 7, 1959, Victor, New York) is an American comics writer and inker whose works have primarily been under contract for DC Comics. He is a member of Periscope Studio and is best known for his collaborations with fellow artist Tom Grummett on '' The Adventures of Superman'', ''Superboy'', and ''Section Zero''. Biography DC Comics After a friend at college complimented his inking, Karl Kesel began submitting his portfolio to Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Kesel's first work for DC Comics appeared in ''New Talent Showcase'' #4 (April 1984). He soon became the inker on '' Tales of the Legion of Super-Heroes'' — so soon, in fact, that he suspected that he was assigned ''New Talent Showcase'' #8 as a test run to see how well he jelled with ''Tales of the Legion'' penciller Terry Shoemaker. Victor, New York
Victor is an incorporated town in Ontario County, New York. The population was 15,969 at the time of the 2020 census. The town is named after Claudius Victor Boughton, an American hero of the War of 1812. The Town of Victor contains a village, also called Victor. The town is in the northwest corner of Ontario County and is southeast of Rochester. Victor is part of the Greater Rochester area; Victor's strategic location led to extensive suburban growth in the late 20th and early 21st century. ''Showcase'' is a comic anthology series published by DC Comics. The general theme of the series was to feature new and minor characters as a way to gauge reader interest in them, without the difficulty and risk of featuring untested characters in their own ongoing titles. ''Showcase'' is regarded as the most successful of such tryout series, having been published continuously for more than 14 years, launching numerous popular titles, and maintaining a considerable readership of its own. The series ran from March–April 1956 to September 1970, suspending publication with issue #93, and then was revived for eleven issues from August 1977 to September 1978. ''Superman'' is an ongoing American comic book series featuring the DC Comics superhero Superman as its main protagonist. Superman began as one of several anthology features in the National Periodical Publications comic book ''Action Comics'' #1 in June 1938. The strip proved so popular that National launched Superman into his own self-titled comic book, the first for any superhero, premiering with the cover date Summer 1939. Between 1986 and 2006 it was retitled, ''The Adventures of Superman'', while a new series used the title ''Superman''. In May 2006, it was returned to its original title and numbering. The title was canceled with issue #714 in 2011, and was relaunched with issue #1 the following month which ended its run in 2016. "The Death of Superman" is a crossover story event featured in DC Comics' Superman-related publications. The crossover, which originated from editor Mike Carlin and writers Dan Jurgens, Roger Stern, Louise Simonson, Jerry Ordway, and Karl Kesel, began in December 1992 and lasted until October 1993. It was published in ''Superman'', ''Action Comics'', '' The Adventures of Superman'', '' Superman: The Man of Steel'', ''Justice League America'', and ''Green Lantern''. Since its initial publication, "The Death of Superman" has been reprinted in various formats and editions. Superboy (Kon-El)
Superboy (also known as Kon-El or Conner Kent) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. A modern variation on the original Superboy, the character first appeared as Superboy in '' The Adventures of Superman'' #500 (June 1993), and was created by writer Karl Kesel and artist Tom Grummett. From the character's debut in 1993 to August 2003, Superboy was depicted as a genetically-engineered metahuman clone of human origin designed by Project Cadmus as a duplicate and closest genetic equivalent of Superman. The character was retconned in ''Teen Titans'' (vol. 3) #1 (September 2003) as a human/ Kryptonian binary clone made from the DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor.
