Karl-Heinz Von Hassel
Karl-Heinz von Hassel (8 February 1939 – 19 April 2016) was a German actor. He appeared in more than 100 films and television shows between 1960 and 2012. Born in Hamburg, he trained for a business career and also took acting lessons. From 1960 he made stage appearances at various theatres and from 1966 he appeared regularly on television and he later had significant roles in films directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder Rainer Werner Fassbinder (; 31 May 1945 – 10 June 1982), sometimes credited as R. Rainer Werner Fassbinder (; 31 May 1945 – 10 June 1982), sometimes credited as R. W. Fassbinder, was a German filmmaker. He is widely regarded as one of the major figures and catalysts of the New German Cinema movement. Fassbinder's main theme was the exploitability of feelings. His films were deeply rooted in post-war German culture: the aftermath of Nazism, the German economic miracle, and the terror of the Red Army Faction. Other prominent themes in his films include love, friendship, identity and more generally, the throes of interpersonal relationships. ''Faust'' is a 1960 West German theatrical film directed by Peter Gorski. It is based on Goethe's ''Faust'' (1808) and adapted from the theater production at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. It stars Peter Gorski's adoptive father Gustaf Gründgens as Mephistopheles and Will Quadflieg as Faust, and was chosen as West Germany's official submission to the 33rd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, but did not manage to receive a nomination. ''The Stationmaster's Wife'' (german: Bolwieser) is a 1977 German television serial directed and edited by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. It was made for German television and originally aired in 1973 as a two-part miniseries. It was based on the 1931 novel ''Bolwieser: The Novel of a Husband'' by Oskar Maria Graf. The film is about a railroad system manager, Xaver Ferdinand Maria Bolwieser (the eponymous Station Master), who is unwittingly cuckolded by the town butcher and a hairdresser. Critic Vincent Canby, in his 1982 '' New York Times'' review, said the story, which is set in the fictional Bavarian town of ''Werburg'' in the 1920s, was reminiscent of '' Madame Bovary''.
