Karine Deshayes
Karine Deshayes (; born 25 January 1973) is a French mezzo-soprano. Biography Deshayes was born in Rueil-Malmaison. She studied musicology at the Sorbonne, then singing with Mireille Alcantara at the Conservatoire de Paris,ODB-Opéra (2005) in which she later also specialized in baroque music under Emmanuelle Haïm. She also attended masterclasses of her mentor Régine Crespin. In 1998 she joined the troupe of Opéra National de Lyon. In 2001, she won several prizes in the "Voix d'Or" competition, and first prize in the "Voix Nouvelles" competition in 2002. In October 2006 she made her New York Metropolitan Opera debut with Siébel in Gounod's ''Faust''. In February 2011, she debuted in the role of Urbain in ''Les Huguenots'' at the Teatro Real in Madrid. In 2014 she made her San Francisco Opera debut in ''La Cenerentola''. La Cenerentola
' (''Cinderella, or Goodness Triumphant'') is an operatic ''dramma giocoso'' in two acts by Gioachino Rossini. The libretto was written by Jacopo Ferretti, based on the libretti written by Charles-Guillaume Étienne for the opera '' Cendrillon'' with music by Nicolas Isouard (first performed Paris, 1810) and by Francesco Fiorini for ' with music by Stefano Pavesi (first performed Milan, 1814). All these operas are versions of the fairy tale '' Cendrillon'' by Charles Perrault. Rossini's opera was first performed in Rome's Teatro Valle on 25 January 1817. Rossini composed ''La Cenerentola'' when he was 25 years old, following the success of ''The Barber of Seville'' the year before. Dixit Dominus (Handel)
''Dixit Dominus'' is a psalm setting by George Frideric Handel (catalogued as HWV 232). It uses the Latin text of Psalm 110 (Vulgate 109), which begins with the words ''Dixit Dominus'' ("The Lord Said"). The work was completed in April 1707 while Handel was living in Italy. It is Handel's earliest surviving autograph. The work was written in the baroque style of the period and is scored for five vocal soloists (SSATB), five-part chorus, strings and continuo. It is thought that the work was first performed on 16 July 1707 in the Church of Santa Maria in Montesanto, under the patronage of the Colonna family. The score was published in 1867. Magnificat (Bach)
Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat, BWV 243, is a musical setting of the biblical canticle Magnificat. It is scored for five vocal parts (two sopranos, alto, tenor and bass), and a Baroque orchestra including trumpets and timpani. It is the first major liturgical composition on a Latin text by Bach. In 1723, after taking up his post as Thomaskantor in Leipzig, Bach set the text of the Magnificat in a twelve movement composition in the key of E-flat major. For a performance at Christmas he inserted four hymns ('' laudes'') related to that feast. This version, including the Christmas interpolations, was given the number 243.1 (previously 243a) in the catalogue of Bach's works. Jérôme Correas (born 3 August 1966) is a French conductor, harpsichordist and bass baritone. Life Born in Les Lilas, at the age of five Correas began studying the piano. In 1982, he met the great harpsichordist and musicologist Antoine Geoffroy-Dechaume with whom he began studying harpsichord and baroque style. After studying hypokhâgne and khâgne at the Lycée Malherbe in Caen, he obtained a degree in history and a degree in art history at the Sorbonne in 1986, and began singing in parallel with his studies. Zig-Zag Territoires
A zigzag is a pattern made up of small corners at variable angles, though constant within the zigzag, tracing a path between two parallel lines; it can be described as both jagged and fairly regular. In geometry, this pattern is described as a skew apeirogon. From the point of view of symmetry, a regular zigzag can be generated from a simple motif like a line segment by repeated application of a glide reflection. Stéphane Degout (born 9 June 1975 in Bourg-en-Bresse) is a contemporary French baritone. He grew up in Saint-Jean-de-Niost (Ain) and has been living in Lyon since 1995.
