Karin Gaardsted
Karin Gaardsted (born 19 October 1955, in Ørre) is a Danish politician. She was a member of the Folketing for the Social Democrats (Denmark), Social Democratic Party. She was elected into parliament at the 2011 Danish general election and then reelected again in the 2015 Danish general election. She was then temporary member of the Folketing for The Social Democratic Party in West Jutland, Western Jutland greater constituency as substitute for Anne Paulin in 2021. She entered Parliament again on 1 March 2024 when Annette Lind resigned her mandate to become consul general in Flensburg. From 1 January 2010 until her entry into the Folketing in 2011, she was deputy mayor of Viborg Municipality. Folketing
The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was Landstinget. It meets in Christiansborg Palace, on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen. The Folketing passes all laws, approves the cabinet, and supervises the work of the government. 2009 Danish Local Elections
The Danish local elections of 2009 were held on 17 November 2009. Councils were elected in Denmark's 98 List of municipalities of Denmark, municipalities and the Regions of Denmark, five regions. 2468 seats were contested in the municipal elections (2005 Danish local elections, previous election: 2522 seats). 205 seats were contested in the regional elections. Legal basis The electoral details are laid down in the municipal and regional electoral act. The elections are overseen by the Ministry of the Interior. Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party ( da, Dansk Folkeparti, DPP/DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The DPP lent its support to the Venstre– Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. While not part of the cabinet, DPP cooperated closely with the governing coalition on most issues and received support for key political stances in return, to the point that the government was commonly referred to as the "VKO-government" (O being DPP's election symbol). The Green Left ( da, Socialistisk Folkeparti, SF) is a democratic socialist political party in Denmark. It was formerly known in English as the Socialist People's Party, the literal translation of its Danish name. History 1959–1969 The SF was founded on 15 February 1959 by Aksel Larsen, a former leader of the Communist Party of Denmark (DKP). Larsen was removed from the ranks of the DKP for his criticism over the Soviet intervention in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Larsen and the new SF sought to form a third way between Denmark's United States-oriented social democracy and Soviet Union–oriented communism, which sought to combine democracy with socialism.
