Tripoli, Libya
Tripoli (; ar, طرابلس الغرب, translit= Ṭarābulus al-Gharb , translation=Western Tripoli) is the capital and largest city of Libya, with a population of about 1.1 million people in 2019. It is located in the northwest of Libya on the edge of the desert, on a point of rocky land projecting into the Mediterranean Sea and forming a bay. It includes the port of Tripoli and the country's largest commercial and manufacturing center. It is also the site of the University of Tripoli. Marada Movement
The Marada Movement ( ar, تيار المردة, translit=Tayyār Al-Marada) is a Lebanese political party and a former militia active during the Lebanese Civil War named after the legendary Marada (also called Mardaites) warriors of the early Middle Ages that fought on the external edge of the Byzantine Empire. Originally designated the Marada Brigade ( ''Liwa al-Marada''), the group initially emerged as the personal militia of Suleiman Frangieh, president of Lebanon at the outbreak of the war in 1975. They were also initially known as the ''Zgharta Liberation Army'', after Frangieh's hometown of Zgharta in northern Lebanon. Abdullah Al Rasi
Abdullah Rassi (1929–1994) was a Lebanese physician and politician. He worked as a physician in Saudi Arabia in the 1960s and following the election of his father-in-law Suleiman Frangieh as the President of Lebanon in 1972 he began to involve in politics. Rassi was a long-term member of the Parliament of Lebanon and served as the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities (Lebanon), minister of interior between 1984 and 1988. Biography Rassi was born in 1929 and hailed from a Greek Orthodox family. He worked as a physician in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 1960s to the early 1970s. Upon his return to Lebanon he was elected to the Lebanese Parliament in 1972 and served there until 1994. He was appointed minister of interior to the Tenth Cabinet of Rashid Karami, cabinet led by Prime Minister Rashid Karami on 13 April 1984. Elie Salem
Elie Salem (born 1930) is a Lebanese academic and politician. He served as the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs between 1982 and 1984. He was the president of the University of Balamand. Early life and education Salem was born in Btourram on 5 March 1930. He graduated from American University of Beirut in 1950 obtaining a degree in political science. Then he attended an American university. Career and activities Salem worked as an academic at his alma mater and was the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences until 1982 when he was named as the minister of foreign and expatriate affairs, and also as deputy prime minister. He served in the posts until 1984 during the presidency of Amine Gemayel. Salem was a confidant of the President which allowed him to initiate the decision-making process at the ministry.
