Karifa Yao
Karifa Yao (born September 28, 2000) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Rhode Island FC of the USL Championship. Early life Yao began playing youth soccer at age seven with CS Fabrose. Afterwards, he joined youth club Étoiles de l’Est. He was also part of the National High Performance Centre. In 2017, he joined the Montreal Impact Academy, playing a year with the U17s, before playing two years with the U19s. Club career In June 2019, Yao signed a homegrown contract with Montreal Impact. He made his professional debut on September 20, 2020, appearing as a substitute against the Philadelphia Union. In February 2021, Yao went on a season-long loan to Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC. 2021 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2021 Canadian Premier League season was the third season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Forge FC were defending champions, after defeating HFX Wanderers FC in the 2020 final. The season was planned to commence on May 22, the Victoria Day weekend, pending the approval of government authorities and the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. However, on May 14, it was announced that the start was to be pushed back to mid-June or early July. On June 5, the league committed to a full 28-match season, but that the season would begin in a single-site bubble at IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba, promoted as "The Kickoff", with each team playing eight matches between June 26 and July 24. The CONCACAF Champions League, known officially as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons, is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF. The tournament is contested by clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. 2022 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The 2022 MLS Re-Entry Draft was conducted in two stages, as it has been in previous years. Stage 1 took place on November 17, 2022, and Stage 2 took place on November 22, 2022. All 28 existing Major League Soccer club and its newest expansion club St. Louis City SC took place in the 2022 MLS Re-Entry Draft. The draft order was set in reverse order of the 2022 Major League Soccer season standing after completion of the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs. Because St. Louis City SC did not participate in the 2022 MLS season, they would have the last position in the 2022 MLS Re-Entry Draft. Teams have the option to decline a selection throughout the draft. If a club chooses a player in stage 1 of the Re-Entry draft, that club must either exercise an option for that player or extend them a Bona Fide offer.
