''Career of Nikos Dyzma'' (also known as ''Kariera Nikosia Dyzmy'' in Polish) is a 2002 Polish film directed by Jacek Bromski. The film is a mordant contemporary satire loosely based on the 1932 novel The Career of Nicodemus Dyzma by Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz, which narrates the story of a crude opportunist from the countryside, whose vulgarity, mistaken by the Polish elite in the capital for canny insight, facilitates his rise through the social and political ranks of the nation. The same novel also inspired the 1979 American film Being There. ''The Career of Nicodemus Dyzma'' (Polish title: ''Kariera Nikodema Dyzmy'') is a 1932 Polish bestselling political novel by Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz. It was his first major literary success, with immediate material rewards, prompting Mostowicz to write and publish roughly two books per year (in total, he wrote 17 novels). The book, very popular already in the interwar period, was made into a 1956 Polish film with Adolf Dymsza in the title role, then into a 1980 television miniseries starring Roman Wilhelmi, and into a 2002 comedy film starring Cezary Pazura. Plot Nicodemus Dyzma is a small-town man who comes to the Polish capital from the Eastern provinces (known as "Kresy") in search of work. Filmweb is an online database of information related to films, television series, actors and film crew personnel. Since 2011, the database also contains video games. Filmweb was launched on March 18, 1998. It is a Polish-language site, and the largest Polish film database. History Filmweb was created by Artur Gortych, and launched on March 18, 1998. On January 20, 2000, it became the first Polish website available through Wireless Application Protocol. In 2005, Filmweb PRO (aimed at entertainment professionals) was launched. Lew Rywin (born 10 November 1945 in a Nizhnyeye Alkeyevo, USSR) is a Polish film producer associated with Heritage Films (est. 1991). He has also been a member of the Polish Radio and TV committee and worked in an agency, Poltel, producing for Polish state-run TV. He participated in producing such films as Steven Spielberg's ''Schindler's List'', Roman Polański's '' The Pianist'', Jan Jakub Kolski's ''Pornografia'' and Marek Brodzki's '' The Hexer'', based on ''The Witcher'' books by Andrzej Sapkowski. His last film was never produced. It was about the life of Holocaust survivor Herman Rosenblat (with producers Harris Salomon and Abi Sirokh).
