Karibib Constituency
Karibib constituency is a constituency in the Erongo Region of Namibia. It had a population of 13,320 in 2011, up from 12,084 in 2001. The district capital is the town of Karibib. the constituency had 9,617 registered voters. Politics In the 2010 regional elections, SWAPO's Ussiel Poulus Xoagub narrowly won the constituency with 1,498 votes. He defeated challenger Zedekias Tsamaseb of the United Democratic Front (UDF, 1,313 votes) and Manfriedt Weskop of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP, 458 votes). The 2015 regional elections were won by Melania Ndjago of SWAPO with 1,902 votes. Tsamaseb of UDF came second with 1,212 votes while Christiaan Nguherimo of the RDP received 217 votes. Ndjago was narrowly reelected in the 2020 regional election, winning the constituency with 1,296 votes. UDF was again runner-up, its candidate Ernestus Axakhoeb received 1,172 votes. Erongo Region
Erongo is one of the 14 regions of Namibia. The capital is Swakopmund. It is named after Mount Erongo, a well-known landmark in Namibia and in this area. Erongo contains the municipalities of Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay and Omaruru, as well as the towns Arandis, Karibib and Usakos. Each of the 14 regions of Namibia is further subdivided into electoral constituencies. The size of the constituencies varies with the size and population of each region. There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency according to the 2011 census was Rundu Urban in the Kavango West region with 63,431 people; the least populous was Okatyali in the Oshana region with 3,187 people. B2 Road (Namibia)
B2 is a major road in Namibia. The highway runs east-west between the major sea port of Walvis Bay and the nation's capital Windhoek. The B2's entire route forms the first section of both the Trans-Kalahari Corridor and the Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Development Road. Route B2 begins in Walvis Bay at a roundabout intersection with C14 and heads north along the coast of the South Atlantic Ocean for about 35 kilometers to Swakopmund. The route then heads northeast & east through inland Namibia for 291 kilometers where it ends at an intersection with B1 near Okahandja. Omaruru, Namibia
Omaruru is a city in the Erongo Region of central Namibia. The town has 14,000 inhabitants and owns of land. It is situated near Mount Erongo, on the usually dry Omaruru River. It is located on the main paved road from Swakopmund to Otjiwarongo. The name in the Otjiherero language means 'bitter milk', as Herero cattle herds used to graze on a local bush that turned their milk bitter. Omaruru is known for its annual festival where the Herero people commemorate their past local chiefs, its winery, and for the dinosaur footprints at nearby Otjihaenamparero. Herero People
The Herero ( hz, Ovaherero) are a Bantu ethnic group inhabiting parts of Southern Africa. There were an estimated 250,000 Herero people in Namibia in 2013. They speak Otjiherero, a Bantu language. Though the Herero primarily reside in Namibia, there are also significant populations in Botswana and Angola. In Botswana, the Hereros or Ovaherero are mostly found in Maun and some villages surrounding Maun. These villages among others are Sepopa, Toromuja, Karee and Etsha. Some of them are at Mahalapye.
