Kari Aas
Karen Marta Inanda "Kari" Aas (6 October 1886 in Farsund-2 January 1978) was a Norwegian teacher and Scout leader, and served as the Chief Scout of the Norsk Speiderpikeforbund from 1927 to 1935. Background Aas graduated from teacher's college in Tromsø and found work as a teacher there in 1909. In 1910 she moved to Trondheim. Aas was a member of the Trondheim school board and executive board ''Trondhjems konsertforening'', the Trondheim concert association. Aas attended the 1928 World Scout Conference in Budapest as one of the Norwegian delegates, and was a witness to the first casting of B-P's footprint, documented in her memoirs. She designed the World Trefoil emblem of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts that was adopted at the World Conference in 1930, a gold trefoil on a blue background. Farsund
is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Lister. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Farsund. Farsund is a coastal municipality in the far southwestern part of Norway, bordering Kvinesdal municipality in the north and Lyngdal in the north and east. Silver Fish Award
The Silver Fish Award is the highest adult award in Girlguiding. It is awarded for outstanding service to Girlguiding combined with service to world Guiding. The award has changed greatly since it first appeared in 1911, initially being awarded to girls on completion of a number of badges, then via numerous stages to the highest award in the Guiding movement worldwide, and then on to its position as a Girlguiding award. Award criteria The Silver Fish is not earned, but given to those who are nominated and are considered worthy of the award. Recipients must be members of Girlguiding, have done outstanding service to Guiding in more than one capacity and made a contribution to world Guiding. B-P's Footprint
B-P's footprint is a casting, usually in bronze or brass, of the right foot of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout and Guide Movements, who is known as "B-P." The idea is that people may put their foot into this casting, so that they can say that they have "walked in the footsteps of B-P." History The 1928 Scouting World Conference was officially opened on May 4 in Parád. The next day, the delegates went on an excursion to Lake Balaton and other places returning to Budapest in the afternoon. That evening, Baden-Powell, his wife Olave and Lord Hampton arrived.
