Skol Veythrin Karenza
Skol Veythrin Karenza (SVK), set up by Movyans Skolyow Meythrin in 2013, is the first full-time Cornish language nursery school with Ofsted registered status. It started in 2010 as a voluntary not-for-profit project run by parents who wanted their children to learn Cornish at early ages. SVK originally ran as a part-time nursery, providing only two hours of bilingual Cornish-English education on Saturdays. In 2012 it was further enlarged, with all-day classes offered every Wednesday. Arthur Boscawen
Reverend Canon Arthur Townshend Boscawen (9 July 1862 – 17 July 1939) was a British Rector of Ludgvan in Cornwall, England, and a recreational and commercial horticulturalist who introduced the ''anemone'' as a commercial crop to Cornwall. Family Arthur Townshend Boscawen was born in Hanover Square, London, the ninth of twelve children of the Rev Hon John Townshend Boscawen (1820–1889) and Mary Tremayne (died 25 November 1895), the daughter of John Hearle Tremayne MP for Cornwall and owner of the Heligan estate, near Mevagissey. His father was the Rector of Lamorran, a keen gardener of (it was said) one of the finest gardens in Cornwall. His uncle was Evelyn Boscawen, 6th Viscount Falmouth who was developing the garden on his estate at Tregothnan. Karenza Mathews (née Smith) is a female former international table tennis player from England. Table tennis career She represented England at five World Table Tennis Championships in the Corbillon Cup (women's team event) from 1967 to 1975. She also reached the quarter-finals of the Women's Doubles with Mary Shannon-Wright and the Mixed Doubles with Denis Neale in 1967. Charenza
Charenza, also Karentia or Karenz, later also Gharense, was a medieval ''Slavic burgwall'' on the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea. It was the administrative centre of the Rani tribe and of the Principality of Rugia. Today, the remnants are called Venz Castle (German: ''Venzer Burgwall''). Name The name Charenza (also spelt ''Karentia'' or ''Karenz'') may be derived from an old personal name, ''Chareta'', or from the Rani word for "root", ''Koreta''. In its original form, the name was Korenitsa. Temples Charenza was not only the administrative hub of the Rani tribe, but also a religious centre with the temples of Rugievit, Porevit and Porenut.
