Karen Montoya
Karen Louise Montoya is an American politician from New Mexico. She is a former member of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission from the 1st district, covering parts of Bernalillo County. Montoya graduated from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque in 1984. She completed coursework at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, and thInternational Association of Assessing Officersto qualify in becoming a certified appraiser in New Mexico. She began work in the Bernalillo County Assessor's Office in 1991, serving as chair of the County Valuation Protest Board, and in 2004 became a senior appraiser in the New Mexico Property Tax Division. She was first elected Bernalillo County Assessor in 2006, and re-elected in 2010. New Mexico Public Regulation Commission
The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission RCis a regulatory authority in New Mexico charged with the responsibility of seeing that utility customers have "fair and reasonable rates, and to assure reasonable and adequate services to the public as provided by law." The PRC regulates the insurance industry in New Mexico through its Division of Insurance, appointing an Insurance Superintendent who is a PRC employee having independent statutory powers. The PRC also has responsibility for motor carrier regulation, the State Fire Marshal's Office, the Firefighter Training Academy, Pipeline Safety and the registration of all corporations and limited liability companies doing business in New Mexico. New Mexico Supreme Court
The New Mexico Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is established and its powers defined by Article VI of the New Mexico Constitution. It is primarily an appellate court which reviews civil and criminal decisions of New Mexico's trial courts of general jurisdiction and certain specialized legislative courts, only having original jurisdiction in a limited number of actions. It currently resides in the New Mexico Supreme Court Building in Santa Fe. Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), formerly Technical Vocational Institute (TVI), is a public community college based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1964, CNM offers associate degrees, professional certificates, and training options.
