Karen Lewis Young
Karen Lewis Young (born June 21, 1951) is an American politician who has served in the Maryland Senate from Maryland Legislative District 3, District 3 since 2023. She previously served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from Maryland House of Delegates District 3A, District 3A from 2015 to 2023. Early life and career Lewis Young was born to a Jewish family in The Bronx on June 21, 1951, and was raised in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. She attended Franklin & Marshall College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1973, and Columbia University, where she earned an Master of Arts degree in American history in 1974 and an Master of Business Administration degree in marketing in 1977. 2018 Maryland House Of Delegates Election
The 2018 Maryland House of Delegates elections were held on November 6, 2018, as part of the biennial United States elections. All 141 of Maryland's state delegates were up for reelection. Prior to the election, there was little doubt that Democrats would hold their majority in the chamber. Maryland's House of Delegates has had a Democratic majority since the elections of 1920, and it remains a solidly Democratic in elections at both the national and state level. Still, there was some discussion about whether or not Republicans would be able to make inroads in the chamber, especially considering that popular incumbent Governor Larry Hogan was running for reelection at the top of the ticket simultaneously.
